Services
The Donovan Funeral Home was founded in 1889 by James Donovan as a carriage, wagon, cart and undertaking business. In 1936 after apprenticing under his father, Joseph C. Donovan took over the operation of the funeral home. After serving in WW II, Joseph R. Donovan became the third generation to enter the funeral business and took over as owner in 1970.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
A funeral is a ceremony for a deceased person prior to burial or cremation. A funeral gives the opportunity for family and friends of the deceased to gather and mourn the passing of their loved one, to share cherished memories and celebrate their life. A funeral is a vital first step to help the bereaved heal after the loss of someone special.
After a death, there are many legal details to hammer out. While it is not necessary to get a lawyer, it is strongly recommended. A lawyer will make sure all the 't's are crossed and i's are dotted. The time following a death of a loved one is extremely emotional, and even the closest family will have disagreements over the most trivial matters.
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own mortality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now.

The primary advantages of pre-arranging your funeral is to relieve the burden on your loved ones in an already emotional time, and to ensure your funeral is carried out according to your wishes, eliminating the task of second-guessing what you would have wanted.Taking the time now to arrange your funeral is one less thing your loved ones will need to worry about once you've passed.

Donovans Funeral Home was amazing and extremely compassionate towards my family. I had never planned a funeral before and was extremely emotional. They took the lead for me and helped every step of the way. I honestly dont know what I would have done without out their knowledge and compassion. They helped my family through this tragedy and were able to give my nephew a beautiful send off. We are eternally grateful. I really can't thank them enough!!!

Our son passed away unexpectedly, so we had no plans in place for his funeral. Had been to Donovan for a friend's funeral few years ago. Dealt with June at Donovan's. She was so patient and helpful through every step. Gave us all options, did nothing rush us through any decision. We asked alot of them, they never said they could not do anything we asked. They handled the pictures, military honors, priest, even a special song we requested last minute. It made an extremely hard time for us a little bit easier. They were fantastic from beginning to end. I highly recommend them.

From The Family of Robert (Bob) V. Jones:
The compassionate care & attention to the many details associated with planning Bob’s visitation & funeral in June 2019 were nothing short of top notch by everyone at Donovan Funeral Home.
Staff members were readily accessible, and they patiently addressed our family’s questions & concerns throughout the process of organizing &
coordinating all arrangements — all while they, too, were grieving.
We remain grateful for the staff’s caring professionalism in helping to make a difficult time for our family a little easier to bear. We highly recommend
