The Ryokubi Dojo, Inc. is a nonprofit martial arts program that offers Karate and Judo Instruction at the highest level. Since opening up our doors to the Fairfield/Westchester county area in 1999, we have taught and graduated hundreds of students. However, to be a true and complete martial artist, one must strengthen not only the body, but the mind as well.
We strive to teach not only the physical aspects, but the mental and spiritual. Whether your goal is to be a World Champion fighter, learn Self-Defense, or just simply get into the best shape of your life, we are dedicated to pushing our students to the utmost highest level. Please read the brief description of each class based on age/interest.

Karate was founded over 400 years ago in Okinawa as a means of self-defense. Over the years, many different styles have emerged. The style at our dojo is SHOTOKAN KARATE. Unlike the violent and aggressive nature that is portrayed in tokay's movies, Shotokan emphasizes the importance of humility, self-control, and most importantly, respect of one's self and others.
JKS is known for its rigorous Kenshusei Program which trains instructors to become proficient in showing and sharing all aspects of karate any moment and anywhere in the world. Current Chief Instructor of JKS is Masao Kagawa Sensei (on right in the photo). Kagawa Sensei is a long-time Head Coach of Teikyo University Karate Team and also a former Head Coach of Japan National Karate Team.
I have 2 sons that have attended weekly classes at Ryokubi Dojo for the past 12 years. I would highly recommend this Dojo if you want to learn karate. Sensei Jo-Jo and Sensei Mikiko are dedicated teachers. My sons are not only learning the karate movements, they are also learning that it takes hard work, respect and dedication to reach certain goals in life.

My son spent ten years at Ryokubi Dojo learning the art of authentic Shotokan karate and so much more (discipline, respect, kindness, altruism, self-respect, honesty, self-pride for one's accomplishments, healthy habits) with Sensei JoJo and Sensei Mikiko. Things were hard: You had to get there on time. You had to EARN your belts. You had to respect your teachers and your fellow students during class and keep focused. But not once during those long years did we consider the dojo just "a place to keep him busy and fit". It was family. It was a community of like-minded people. And as "scary" as Sensei
