Services
Vision Quest Martial Arts is a leader in Martial Arts instruction in the Lafayette area. Using a model based in human growth and child development, we provide a community and curriculum with you and your child's needs in mind. Sensei Nicholas Milliken has adapted his own unique training system which incorporates the ideals of traditional American Kenpo Karate, the Four Pillars of Fast Defense and a Whole Child approach.
Verbal self-defense - Using your body language, proxemics and voice to deescalate situations and effectively assert yourself. Physical self-defense - Using your body mechanics, major muscle groups and leverage to allow yourself escape from someone trying to harm you. At Vision Quest Martial Arts we strive to teach the whole child and our techniques are far from just kicking and punching.

It's a good program. There is a lot to like about the way that they bring out the best qualities of each child, with some insight into what makes them each 'tick. The positive mantras and pep talks are every bit as much of what makes this a good program as the karate itself. Nick Milliken won us over when he spent 1:1 time with our son, giving him some good mentoring... and again when he was looking for new assistants for the school (indicating that the punching and kicking was the easy part, but "getting it right" with the major task of motivating and helping-to-raise the kids

The respect and focus that Sensei Nick Milliken shares with and teaches to his students is inspiring. Yes, our son is learning karate, but he is also learning about the importance of community, dedication, kindness, strength, self confidence, forgiveness, and self control. I am so grateful we found Vision Quest Martial Arts. "It's the tiny little efforts that make the difference."

VQ Karate is a great dojo and I recommend it to both kids and adults. They are very focused on improvement of the whole person: physically, socially, responsibility, goal setting, and achievement.

The preschool class on Saturday AMs has been great! It's a drop in class, so no long term commit. And the price is super reasonable with small groups. The instructors have changed over the past year, which has been directly related to my child's interest and enthusiasm for going back. I'd give them a 5-star review if it wasn't for the instructor turnover. The current instructors are "fun".

Best martial arts school in Boulder county, led by Sensei Nick Milliken - a good leader and excellent teacher. The kids learn so many skills and other good lessons while excersing and having a gret time. Highly recommend it for adults, too!
