I fell in love with Catalina Island when I was in college, and quickly moved here after school. After attending massage therapy school, I started working for a local spa. Our first impression was that of a woman saying ‘“STOP!…Wait right there!” We were startled thinking something was wrong? She then continued to not really great us as guest? So from the beginning it didn’t feel like a warm environment. The beds were not warmed.. room was a little cold.. and my Massuse had shaky hands? I don’t know if she was nervous or what but it never got better. She seemed to be lost in where and what she was doing to me? I’m the end the woman who didn’t great us ,failed to ask how our massage was. We were left to deal/pay one of our actual Massuse.

This was our second couples massage at this salon and I must say both times we experienced excellent treatments. This time we had Esther and Ruben and they were fantastic. We were so relaxed when we left. I highly recommend visiting the Catalina Sea Spa next time you are on the island. You will not be disappointed.

Best message in Avalon. Aly was amazing; her kindness and expertise worked magic on me! She listened to my concerns, asked about my needs, and worked the tension out of my body with love and radiating energy.

Had a great couples massage; my therapist was Ruben. Everything from the booking to the checkout was handled pretty seamlessly. I wished I was staying longer than 1 night because I might have booked a second visit, as 60 minutes wasn't long enough. (Apparently working from home all these months without a proper desk wreaked havoc on my back!)

We did the couples massage for 2 hours and they were fantastic. Barbara did a fantastic job on me and targeted the areas I really needed! Candace did an amazing job on my husband! She has heavy hands that helped get those blue collar man Knotts. The place isn't the nicest or fanciest, but fantastic job!!

My husband and I visited Catalina Sea Spa for a couples massage on our honeymoon and were not disappointed. Our two therapists were very professional and gave us some of the best massages we’ve ever had. This is also a very well priced spa and were pleasantly surprised with what we got for what we paid! If you are looking for a spa experience with all the amenities (showers, sauna, steam room, etc.) then you should look elsewhere as they just have rooms for massages here. BUT if you are looking for a great massage then look no further!! Would definitely come back!

I don't really understand the great reviews for this place. Me and my boyfriend went and got couples massages and I really felt like my masseuse didn't know what she was doing. She didn't ask me where I wanted her to focus or the pressure I desired, just started and said "let me know ok." She also kept grabbing my hair very aggressively and was just kind of aggressive with the technique in general which made the massage unrelaxing. Today, we had a couples massage at this lovely business.
After the massage, my husband's first words were: this is the best massage I have ever had!!! Barbara was his masseuse. Now several hours later, he is still raving about how wonderful it was.
Kai or Kay? was my massage person! OMG, he knows exactly how to dig into my horribly tense knotted shoulders and neck. It was painfully wonderful. I will see him again.

My husband and I got a couples massage for our anniversary and WOW! Best massage I've ever had. I had Passion and she was sooooooo amazing! I loved her technique and her flow. I loved that she put a hot towel under my neck while massaging my feet and her pressure was perfect. My husband had Barbara and he loved his massage too. He said is massage hurt so good. Hahah. We booked a massage for 4pm and they changed it to 5:30pm at the last minute. When we tried to resolve their error, instead of apologizing for their mistake, they were super rude and accused us of being the ones to change the time. How is that even possible considering we don’t have access to their booking program??

Update: not only did they arbitrarily change our appointment time, but their response to my review is untruthful and incredibly rude. They, in fact, are the ones that made my pregnant wife break down crying when they accused her of lying.
This response from the business owner demonstrates their lack or professionalism. The woman on the phone dealing with us was, in fact, the rude one who acted inappropriately. The woman on the phone said "you obviously changed it on your end, we wouldn't just change it."

I did not cuss at anyone at any point in time. Accusing me of doing so is adding insult to injury. The person I spoke with on the phone did not make any attempt to apologize for the situation and instead continuously implied that the scheduling mishap was my fault. I'm surprised to learn that I was interacting with the manager, because I would expect a manager of a spa to be very customer centric and kind.
For anyone reading this, Island Spa and A Touch of Heaven are excellent alternatives to this place!

I had no expectations of this place since I didn't do any research prior, as I booked this as a very last minute massage appointment (Had some time to spare before dinner - called this place, and they were luckily able to take me in immediately).
My massage therapist was K. Now let me tell you - I've had plenty of massages in my life but K's hands down was one of THE best massages I've ever had. He knew exactly all the pressure points to hit, and had a very firm, yet gentle touch. He worked out all the knots in my shoulder, but still had time to focus on the rest of my body

I was in Catalina for a scuba course and had the pleasure of going to this spa. It was genuinely one of the best massages I've ever had and I get massages weekly. Travis, the massage therapist, was phenomenal. His technique is AMAZING and his personality is calming and friendly. Can't recommend enough. If you go to the island, definitely visit this spa and be sure to book with Travis!

Well, the masseuse might have some talent and basic knowledge of massage therapy. But she asked me about what areas I needed focus on and then avoided every area I mentioned. After the first 15 mins of absolute boredom and frustration I requested that she focused on my neck, she replied ‘well sir, you understand you were 15 mins late to your appointment? In the massage world that comes out of the massage time’. Um well first I’m paying 95$ for 30 mins, and secondly why is that your response to me asking you to do what I need done!? Just had a 90 min massage from Esther. Wow, the best massage I can remember, and likely the best I've ever had. She listened to what I needed and expertly focused on the areas I asked her to. Not a single second of the 90 min massage was wasted. She really knows what she's doing and was sweet and professional. I walked out feeling 100x better than when I walked in.
The spa is small (as are all facilities in Avalon) but very well done. The massage table, sheets, etc.. were extremely comfortable. The products used there are very high quality.

My husband and I enjoyed a couples massage with Brittany & Cejae as our massage therapists. These therapists were very professional, maintained effective communication, and coverage. Highly Recommend the two hour couples massage or any that tailors ones needs. Especially after a long day of bike riding, shopping, and jet skiing. It truly is a great way to end the day. All in all, the experience and results were precious and equal to the monetary value set in place.
