Functional Kids focuses on children and young adults. The occupations of infants include sleeping, eating and exploration of their physical, social and cultural worlds. With children the occupations added are self-maintenance, play, socialization and school. Successful communication involves the ability to hear a message, process the information, formulate a response, initiate and motor plan a response verbally in a socially appropriate manner.
Breakdowns can occur in any of these areas. Physical therapy treats children with medical diagnoses including torticollis, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, autism, developmental delays, injury rehabilitation, delay in gross motor skills, concerns with decreased strength, coordination and balance, plus a variety of other diagnoses.

Services
Functional Kids Clinic has been in serving families in Minnesota's greater Twin Cities area since 2001 and has an amazing staff of seven occupational therapists, eight speech pathologists and one physical therapist. The occupational and physical therapy practice is owned and operated by Kris Worrell, OTR/L, SIPT.

Children at Functional Kids Clinic have the opportunity to have their speech and/or occupational therapy in a therapeutic salt water pool in Hudson, Wisconsin. Our therapists are trained to utilize the unique properties of water to enhance gains met on land. Speech therapists are able to work on oral motor skills such as blowing, lip rounding and closure, and coordinated breath holding.
In the case that we are not "in network", you may be subject to a higher deductible, copay and/or coinsurance and are responsible for a greater percentage of the total therapy charges. Your insurance benefits for therapy services will be checked and reviewed for you in detail before your first visit to the clinic.

I have had two children who have grown stronger with their time in Speech, OT, and PT for over 7 years at FunKids. This is THE spot in the Twin Cities to receive supports and clinical therapies for kids with developmental delays. The time we have invested there has been invaluable and the drive (shorter than you think) from Mpls to their office/gym has been worth every minute. We have also had access to wonderful different therapies through FunKids, like water therapy at their gorgeous sister location in Hudson. I’m really disappointed with the service here! They just care about payment, I have seen more improvement and progress in my sons skills from attending ABA therapy more than he ever has state ding speech and Ot at functional kids. I top of that they have been downright disrespectful about pickup times! They constantly come to get him from the car late then turn around and complain when we are 5 minutes late to pick him up! As of us parents are horrible for leaving work a couple minutes late in btw appointments! All they care about is payment that’s all they are good at securing and following

I took my daughter to the Functional Kids and we both had a wonderful experience with this clinic. The staff is kind and friendly and the facilities clean and inviting. My daughter connected really well with her therapist and looks forward to going back for her next appointment. I can't think of a better environment to help her develop and thrive. I was referred here by my daughter’s pediatrician due to it being the closest to our location. My daughter went in for a speech eval on 3/2. I wasn’t told the process and was left dumbfounded. As a mother with concerns about her daughter’s speech, I wish someone would’ve explained the process and what to expect. I waited three weeks with no updates. I finally decided to call on 3/22 and was told the speech therapist was working from home and I should be getting a call back by the end of the day. No one contacted me until 3/31.
