My name is Darneal McAllister, LMSW, ACSW, CAADC, MAC, SAP. I am a clinical therapist and have been providing counseling for over 20 years. I utilize evidenced-based therapy in my daily practice. My primary practices include: Psychosocial Assessments, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness Based stress reduction interventions.
Consultations are a proactive approach to getting some guidance and support during a life transition or in daily living. Consultations are usually shorter term and help you get on the right track. Therapy tends to dig deeper into certain issues that may be troubling but consultations are meant to give you helpful advise and directions to short term set backs.
Grief counseling is a form of psychotherapy that aims to help people cope with grief and mourning following the death of loved ones, or with major life changes that trigger feelings of grief (e.g., divorce, or job loss). Grief counselors believe that everyone experiences and expresses grief in their own way, often shaped by culture.
We all have times when we lack confidence and don't feel good about ourselves. But when low self-esteem becomes a long-term problem, it can have a harmful effect on our mental health and our lives. Self-esteem is the opinion we have of ourselves. When we have healthy self-esteem, we tend to feel positive about ourselves and about life in general.

When a teenage uses drugs it alters their brain development and impacts their overall well-being. Substance use often times begins with experimentation and the desire to "just want to have fun with my friends."
