Our story begins when owner and founder Mauro P. Garcia, Sr. graduated in 1949 from Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston, Texas. He became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and began working for Max Martinez Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. He decided to move to Alice, Texas and with the experience he attained, began working for Walker-Mora Funeral Home.
It was in 1960 when Mauro P. Garcia, Sr. and Mr. Mike Rios became partners and together established the Garcia-Rios Mortuary in San Diego, Texas. Four years later, the partnership was dissolved. In 1964 Mauro, Sr. and his wife, Ines R. Garcia, established Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas.
