Services
Dr. Shawn Dutton is a 1987 graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Dutton joined our practice in 1987 when he and his wife Jan moved to St. Michael. For the past 23 years they have enjoyed raising their family of two sons and a daughter, along with their three dogs.
She went to Argosy University in Eagan, MN earning her AA Degree in Veterinary Technology. She loves working with a variety of animals and seeing our great clients. She enjoys her time at home with her husband and 3 kids, their dogs, and cats. When she has spare time, she enjoys reading and watching movies.
Mary has been with Big Lake Area Veterinary Hospital since October of 2008 and feels lucky to be a part of such a great team. She enjoys seeing puppies and kittens and interacting with their owners. Mary is married and has three children. She stays active by participating in 5K races. In her spare time she likes to craft, garden and read.

My dog was under sedation protocol for 2 days to prepare for his appointment, as prescribed by the vet (meaning he was drugged-up for 2 days), only for them to cancel on us 1-1/2 hours before our appointment, because they were short staffed. There was no possible way for them to fit him in, despite the special circumstances. In order to book another day, I would need to start the whole procedure over again and put my dog through another round of sedation, which makes him throw up. If I were a business owner that put a customer in a situation like this, I would offer to stay late, at the very least

They are always calling and helping anyway they can.Caring,helpful and compassionate workers. Always been willing to show me how to do things like trim nails myself, co vid has made it hard to contuine this service but they do their best to help anyway possible. We have been going to the st michael one for years probably 15 plus. Years, so we switched to this location being they are the same vets. We are super happy and they always love my babies like I do. Would always recommend. Yes prices are expensive like any vet. But the care is always good.

I had reservations taking our puppy to a vet for curbside service because of COVID19. The staff here were wonderful! They were very understanding, patient and kind. A staff member came to get our puppy and was genuinely happy. Communication from the staff was great and their timelines given at each call were spot on. I didn't feel rushed when talking to the veterinarian. She gave a thorough report, asked questions, gave recommendations and answered all of our questions. Very happy and glad we chose this vet clinic!
