Blue Ridge Medical & Sports Massage
Whether you are an athlete in training, a CPA with a sore neck, or a mom with a chronic backache, you can't let pain keep you from reaching important goals. Clinically-based massage therapy can help. I chose this field because I wanted to be able to treat complicated conditions as well as help people rest.

It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see a client walk away with a restored, pain-free range of motion. Our area is a playground for outdoor recreation including mountain biking, running, canoeing, and hiking. Our community is thriving with young professionals, active retirees and young athletes leading our local teams to championships in football, soccer, tennis, and basketball.
Services
A Native North Carolinian, I settled into Henderson County in the mid 1980's after working several summers at Camp Mondamin. It didn't take long to develop a great respect and appreciation for the area which has captivated me for 25 years. In 2003, I graduated from the Center for Massage and Natural Health and began an exciting career.
Sports massage is good for the weekend warrior as well as the serious athlete. The goal is to get the client as flexible as possible without compromising strength or creating new pain. All work is done pain free. Often, I find a problem expressing itself in one region (as an example the knee) when in fact it is a problem in another area.
It is the goal of Blue Ridge Medical and Sports Massage to provide all treatments in a pain-free manner, not increasing the clients current pain level and inflammation during any treatment session. The other primary goal of treatment is to restore your pain-free range of motion. At the end of all treatments, you may be referred to a practitioner who can prescribe stretching and strengthening excersises for self care.
My main goal is to make you feel comfortable, so when it comes to what to wear for a massage, I recommend workout shorts for males and a sports top and lycra shorts or running shorts for females. This doesn't mean the massage has to be done this way. I have many clients who want to be clothed or want to receive the massage as they would during a relaxation session.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality
Bernie is a top notch massage therapist. Gets to the root of the problem instead of just giving you a quick fix and sending you out the door. Highly recommend for anyone having issues with their body.

Bernie did an EXCELLENT job. He listened, then did a more thorough assessment throughout the massage. By adding range of motion with the massage, he was able to help relieve problem pain and limited movement areas. It's been months since I have had this much pain relief! THANK YOU.

Bernie is the best massage therapist around. He utilizes a whole body approach, and helps us understand that (for example) just because our knee hurts, it may actually be an issue elsewhere. When I get a message, this (and not some fru-fru deal) is what I want! If you're not quite feeling right, are sore or in pain, you must go see Bernie. I also know he specializes in knee, shoulder, hip pain, and plantar fasciitis, as I've sent people to him for these issues and they always sing his praises.

Bernie is a terrific massage therapist! Extremely knowledgeable and professional. This is no "spa massage". He has relieved some pains and restored range of motion for me.
