Bridgett VanDerhoff and her deceased husband, Doug (1951 - 2007), opened their first AppleTree location in Grand Rapids, MI on Monroe Avenue in 1998 with the dream of creating a premier child care and early education center that would provide a safe, nurturing environment for their infant daughter, Anna, to grow, learn, and thrive.
Children take electricity and other energy sources for granted, until one day their community has a power blackout. They come to realize that in lighting homes and keeping houses warm, we are using up natural resources that can't be easily replaced. If we fail to save energy, a time may come when our homes will always be cold and dark.
At AppleTree and Gilden Woods, we value family. We recognize that the younger years of a child's life are the years when bonds are created and lasting relationships are formed. For this reason, we provide many opportunities for our families to have fun with their children. We aim to celebrate all parent-child relationships by providing occasions that honor all of the various family relations.
Below is a list of questions many of our parents ask our schools each day. If you do not see your question listed below, we encourage you to please call your Program Director. You are always encouraged to call your school if you need further explanation regarding your questions. We recognize that all children develop on their own schedule.
Below is a list of necessary items to bring along on your child's first day. These items will help to ensure your child's comfort at AppleTree/Gilden Woods Early Care and Preschool. All enrollment paperwork (if not yet given to the Program Director) This includes a copy of your child's updated immunization record.

When my daughter was about 4 weeks old I toured 6 daycares in the area and nothing compared to Gilden Woods! From the moment I walked in I knew I wanted our daughter to be in the care of Gilden Woods.
It is a very stressful decision as a first time parent to have to send your child to daycare when it’s time to go back to work. All my stress and fears were put at ease when I met Ms. Morgan. Ms. Morgan is the Infant 1 teacher and I knew right away I wanted our daughter in her care. Ms. Morgan is so down to earth and just loves her infants so much! Half way through Olivia’s time in Infant 1,

We toured and researched several daycares/preschools in the area and were very pleased when we came across Gilden Woods in New Hudson! Their hours suited our busy schedule, their curriculum is wonderful, and their teachers are great. It is definitely worth it for the price! Our son has been very happy there :)
