Originally built in 1909 as a private home, ours is the first and is still the only locally, family owned and operated funeral home in the Arlington Village of Riverside, serving neighborhood families and surrounding areas since 1949.

Built in 1907 as a beautiful colonial home, located in the Historic District of Corona, Grimes-Akes Family has served the special needs of Corona, Norco and surrounding communities since 1947. Our "Grace Chapel" with it's large sunlit gardens and windows will accomodate 250 family members and guests.

We had a very pleasant experience with Ruth and her son Patrick. Their prices were reasonable and you could tell they had a a lot of experience in what they do. She helped us through the whole process and was a big help with the viewing, church services and burial. You can tell it was a family run business because of the level of support they both showed my family.

People have to remember that emotions run high during funerals. Everyone is confused, scared, sad, and a whole other mix of emotions, so they are looking for something to be upset about. So please read some of these negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have to give Akes 5 stars. If I could give them more I would. We explained what we had wanted, but we received above and beyond what we asked for. Everything was done on such a timely manner. We had chosen a church which, with traffic, was over an hour and a half away. Akes was professional, kind, understanding, and so respectful. They were on

I gave one star because it was the only way to post my review or I would have completely removed the stars. You’d expect these people to show sympathy and respect for the family. Not so here. The receptionist was cold and rude when I called for information, and I don’t care how busy they are, they should have at least had the decency to notify our family as to when my brother would be cremated! How is this possible? We found out that the cremation took place the day before our final call to them. Any business that can be so irresponsible and disrespectful should no longer be in business. I will rate this place negative ZERO! Made a lot of mistakes from the very beginning. Super unprofessional, bad communication.

The Akes Family is so very wonderful. In a time we are experiencing one of the most devastating griefs, they made sure that everything for our sons service was taken care of. Ruth was very helpful in guiding us through the process of planning the viewing and service at Riverside National Cemetery for my dad in June. My dad passed away in Chicago where he and my mom lived but the plan was for him to be laid to rest in Riverside so we were a bit overwhelmed not only by the emotions surrounding his passing but also with trying to plan and coordinate everything from across the country. Ruth made this process easier and she and Andy were both very kind and comforting on the days of the events. The viewing room was beautiful and the service was very nicely done. I would recommend
