We love teaching karate, but none of our instructors do it for a living. Unlike more commercialized schools that are focused on making money, we prefer to invest the time and ensure you learn to apply effective techniques. Okinawan karate, from its origins, was born out of a necessity to defend against life-threatening danger.

As students of Sensei Iha, our instructors each have at least 25 years experience practicing and teaching Okinawan Karate. As a newcomer, you will receive one-on-one private instruction as part of every class.

This article is a very brief history provided to Sensei Iha by Master Hanshi Katsuya Miyahira, and describes the way our style has been passed along since the 1400s. It brings to life the figures outlined in our lineage diagram. Today's karate and kobudo came to be as a result of combining the good qualities of the martial arts of China and the other Southeastern Asian countries with the Okinawa "ti" through interchanges.

I have been taking class here for almost a year and have learned not only the basics of Okinawan Karate but a way of thinking on how to anticipate and plan for defending and dealing with opponents and life in general. The instructors are dedicated to the craft and hold students to high standards. I would not take classes any where else as this is the real deal and well worth the trip for me. One on one instruction helps though me to learn more in every class. Though I am a beginner I can work with the most advanced students and instructors who are patient, understanding and extremely knowledgeable
