Pleasanton Bilingual Montessori Preschool (PBMP) was established to provide a solid education with all the ideals of individualized learning at the most critical period of a child's life - the early childhood years. The programs at our school recognize that children learn differently, each at different pace.
Knowledge of a second language is one the greatest gifts we can give our young children. Language acquisition develops with ease in the preschool years which is why this is such an optimal stage in which to expose children to a new language. Pleasanton Preschool is a bilingual school which instructs children ages 2 through kindergarten in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
The toddler classroom is a place for children to feel comfortable and enjoy being in school. The teachers become part of the child's family, it is a place where the child feels loved and cared for. It is a warm introduction of the school setting. The teachers encourage development by having activities appropriate to the child's age.
The goals of the Prep class are to aid the child to gain confidence and independence by having a positive experience at school. The Prep class could be the child's first opportunity of socialization and being part of a school setting. The children and their families are guided through the process of separation by the guidance of our prepared teachers.
The primary goals of this classroom are order, concentration, coordination and independence. Montessori certified teachers guide the curriculum and the development of the children. The classroom is prepared so that every activity that the child chooses they will learn something from it.
Each area of the classroom - practical life, sensorial, language, math, cultural subjects, science and art - is designed to invite the child to choose focused, purposeful work.The multi age classroom gives the opportunity for the older children to become role models and for the younger ones to learn from the older ones.
