Our family-owned and operated business was founded in downtown Miami in 1945 by watchmaker George Hornik. He and his wife, Helena moved the business to Coral Gables in the 1950s. Today, the jewelry store is still located on Miracle Mile, in its 3rd generation of family ownership & operation as one of South Florida's premier jewelers.
Both George's son and granddaughter are GIA educated Graduate Gemologists. Jae's Jewelers was founded in Miami in 1945 by watchmaker George Hornik. The Brooklyn native, who moved to Miami in 1938, served in the Navy during World War II. After his discharge, George moved to Colorado, where he studied the craft of watchmaking and discovered his passion. Mr. Hornik started the business repairing watches for $1 and considered it a bonus if he could also sell a 25 cent leather band to go along with it.

My girlfriend and I were walking down to our car after leaving an appointment. We passed by Jae's Jewelers and saw in the front window a beautiful ring. It was so beautiful we had to go in. A link in my rosary broke. I walked in near closing time. The jeweler made the repair on the spot, gratis. This is the second time I received such service (for a rosary!) in the past coupe of years. We heard about this jewelry store from friends who took their daughters to a gemology class they had for the kids a few months ago. My boyfriend went into Jae’s to buy me a birthday present. I am a little bit picky to shop for in terms of jewelry because my mom owns a women’s clothing and jewelry boutique. My boyfriend knows I’m also allergic to sterling silver and even the nickel free earrings give me issues most times! Per the recommendation of my neighbor, I came to Jae's to see if I could have the diamond from a necklace set in a ring instead. I wasn't sure where to go but they came highly recommended, and I am glad I stopped by. Everyone was super sweet and helpful in giving me all the options, price points, and details until we settled on a setting. I had a bunch of my mom and grandmother's old jewelry that I wanted to reset and some of my own stuff that I wanted to sell and Jill took care of me. She worked with me to design the PERFECT sapphire and diamond ring, resetting sentimental stones in a custom piece that I love and wear daily. My experience with Jae’s has been unbelievable. I brought in my grandmother’s heirloom ring to be redesigned. Jill helped me through it all. She showed me all the possibilities for the jewels that could be re-purposed. The vision she was able to create for the necklace was transformative. Jae's jewelers did an incredible job resizing my wedding bands and engagement ring after I had a baby and my ring size changed. The bands and ring are very custom and in order to resize, they needed to add diamonds to the bands and on the engagement ring, do some serious metallurgy because it had a custom feature where they would need to make the cut to expand. I was shocked when I came to pick them up because they looked BRAND NEW! I could not tell AT ALL where they expanded the size or added the diamonds or the gold. I recently purchased a custom gold bangle from a different retailer and when I received the bracelet, it was too big for my wrist and too uncomfortable to wear. Professional service and friendly staff. My piece of jewelry was handed with care and they were able to resize my timepiece with such quick service. I wasn't an easy client to have to continue to resize but they seem to do it without hesitation and they made sure I left with a smile on my face and that it was fitted to my needs.

After doing hours of research I settled on Jae's Jewelers for my commemorative 20th anniversary ring. I brought them my 2 carat antique cushion cut diamond and with their help found the perfect Edwardian cluster setting. Their on sight goldsmith makes all the difference. They were able to remove my stone from it's current setting and place it into the new setting while I waited just to make sure that I would be happy with the result. I came here to get 2 pieces of jewelry repaired, a pair of earrings that were always falling of the hooks and a bracelet that the clasp wasn't closing. They helped bend the clasp of the bracelet into what they said would work for a tighter fit but it still doesn't stay on properly so I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a better solution but there was no charge for that so nothing lost. They also gave me the option of just bending the hook of the earrings shut for free or welding them shut. I opted to pay for them to weld them together as I didn't want to risk losing

The day we bought the wedding bands, I read an article that Jill ( one of the jewelers at Jae's) posted on her social media outlet stating how important it is to buy jewels from brick and mortar businesses. I agreed with the article. A lot of millennials (like myself) find it convenient to purchase online now days, but with a big ticket items such as a wedding band I found it comforting to have work with a brick and mortar business such as Jae's.
