I was having a car serviced right down on Irving Park Road and they said it would take a couple of hours. I decided to call a nearby salon (Rockstar) and see if I could walk down and come in for a haircut.

I called and the gal that answered the phone was super friendly and said I could come on down right then! Score! It was beautiful weather and just a couple of blocks away!

The owner lacks any empathy or etiquette. I have a 5 year old daughter with special needs that I brought in for polish on her toes and nails. The girl who painted them both was very sweet and did a great job. After about 15 minutes I asked if her nails were dry, to which the owner replied they will never dry and threw his arm up in the air as to dismiss me and my question. My daughter heard the conversation and immediately went into panic. I approached the owner to explain that my daughter has special needs and to which he replied you are her mother just tell her they are dry or I will tell her

I took my teenage daughter on July 11th to get her hair dyed purple, and simple ends trim. I was with her during the initial conversation about the color she wanted, she carried a picture on her phone which we showed the colorist. I was told to leave as a Covid-19 rule. I absolutely adore this place. In March a friend completely demolished my hair and it was a neon orange and it was breaking off in chunks. I was having a midlife crisis and was a total crying/depressed mess (a little over exaggerated i know). BEWARE!!! They lie about their service to overcharge for cheap product. They advertise it as Brazilian Blowout, but they do keratin treatment instead. And even this keratin treatment is a scam. I have spent 300$ for something that did not do anything to my hair. Absolutely nothing, the hair is exactly the same, not even a bit smoother. Before coming to Rockstar I'd been with my stylist for 15 years. Unfortunately she passed away. My sister and her husband are clients at Rockstar, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Both my boys age 15 and 12 get their haircut by Jen. My 15 year old is sooo picky! Jen has been a godsent! He is there about 3 times a month sometimes and refuses to allow anyone to touch his curls! She just started my 12 year old with a new updated haircut that has slowly been falling into place over the last three cuts. She does an awesome job! Both boys have completely different hair types and she nails it every time! Gabriel couldn't live without you Jen! It is always warm and welcoming and the girls at the front desk are always so sweet.

Very clean place. Service was great. They take the request in the front and that way the tech knows exactly what is needed to be done. Friendly staff.

Went to Alyssa for a blonde balayage and Jen for a cut and style--both were great! Fair prices and great talent at Rockstar. I also really like the unique look and layout of the salon. Only issue was the guy I talked to on the phone to book the appointment was super confused/confusing and said I had to do cut first, then color and that styling would not be included (Jen spotted this issue before I arrive and amended the appointment so everything was perfect once I got there).

I've been going to Rockstar for maybe a year and a half now for my hair. I've always been happy with the cuts I've gotten, since my schedule is a bit nuts I have seen several different stylists. I've always just done a trim and upkeep so it's been good. I got a pedicure here a couple months ago and unfortunately was not as happy. I've been going here for a few months. I've had great experiences with everyone. I've had color and style services from multiple experiences and I've always left happy. They are priced appropriately, kind, and do great hair.

The actual place is kind of cute. I like the way it's decorated. The employees think they know better than you about your own hair. Gave them 3 chances with me (hundreds of dollars) and I still have to pay hundreds more to fix my hair. 3 times, 3 times and still don't have the color or cut I asked for. The first time I went I had a fabulous haircut and style by Jen. She was super friendly and took the time to blowdry and style my hair, it was super cute! At the end of it, $40 seemed like a great deal and I decided to go back. The employees at this salon specialize in one area, meaning the person that cuts your hair can't dye it for you as well. Personally I'd want to make one appointment with one person and knock both tasks out at once.

My real issue and reason for writing this review is that after the shampoo girl washed my hair I was escorted to their "blowdry bar" (counter space with products to dry your own hair) and told that I had to use the Pampers baby wipes to remove the dye on my skin

Jen is a good hairstylist, I feel I have the best style I've had in years! Friendly staff and the atmosphere is relaxing there. I also am a big fan of Lisa and Regina who do my pedis! I recommend this place!

I've been going to Rockstar for a few years now. I have my go-to stylists for cut/color (Jen and Rachel) but have also seen a handful of stylists over the years and have never been disappointed. Everyone is extremely nice and professional which can be sometimes hard to find at Salons. The Rockstar girls (and guys) are always up to date with trends relating to color, cut and products. The head/scalp massage you receive when getting your hair washed is my favorite part. I literally melt into the chair- such a nice touch.

In the short time I was a client, I was fairly happy but not thrilled. Recently, I had a pretty bad cut and it needed to be recut by the owner. She indeed fixed the issue but I left unsatisfied- the damage had already been done.
Its a nice salon. Clean and new but other than that just average. For the price of a cut you could go anywhere. Altho I like to support local businesses, this one was hard to get behind.

I found Michael and was so happy. I have a LOT of long curly hair, that I LOVE to wear big...and curly. Michael left to pursue his dreams and I went into panic mode. It was suggested to me, I should try Ann. SHE WAS AMAZING. She listened to what I wanted and she did it. I totally recommend Rockstar. If you have Curly hair.....Ann is an expert! LOVE!

I'm picky about who cuts my hair because it's thick, dense, grows FAST, and will quickly turn into an out of control situation if I don't manage it and it's not cut properly.

MICHELLE is the best - she is fast, personable, responsive and open to ideas and suggestions. Most importantly: she understands hair - how it grows, how it behaves, and what to do about it!

I moved to the Chicago suburbs from Tampa, FL where I went to a progressive salon for years to get my hair cut and it was important that I found a place up here that could do more than cookie cutter fantastic sams

I'm really torn with this review.

I like Rockstar. The salon is really cool-looking and welcoming, it was very easy to get a last-minute reservation, their washing stations have a comfortable shelf for your head to rest on, and the products they use smell and work great. The haircut I received was pretty decent; not fantastic, but pretty good for the suburbs, and the price was alright. Also, my hair stylist was very friendly and seemed to have the banter thing down pat (or maybe we just "clicked", I don't know).

That said, I would prefer to give my money to a local independent

PRO'S: I first wandered into Rockstar when a friend of mine gave me a gift certificate here. It was an awesome promotion with multiple coupons for different services. I got my hair cut, colored and styled and I loved it. While the only reason I first walked in was because of the coupon, afterwards, I decided this was my new salon! I went back several times and the salon was always sure to book me with the same colorist and the same stylist. It was a bit expensive, but with how good my experiences were, I had to keep going back!
