Services
At Somatherapy, we believe a great education doesn't have to be expensive. We strive to deliver comprehensive, hands-on education at the most competitive rates in the Coachella Valley. While prospective students are encouraged to enroll in our full Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) program, we also offer a la carte classes and continuing education for established bodywork professionals.
Our programs are designed to meet the requirements for certification from the California Massage Therapy Council* (CAMTC) for The Massage Therapist Certification. The Massage Therapist Program is 545 massage education hours, including 100 hours in anatomy & physiology, contraindications, health & hygiene, and business & ethics.
Somatherapy Institute School of Massage's Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) program trains students for employment in the field of bodywork and massage. Students will learn to give professional-quality Swedish and Thai massages, aromatherapy, clinical and therapeutic techniques, and so much more! We offer several exciting electives to supplement your education.
The HHP Designation has long been a coveted certification for massage therapists. It is a 1000-hour total program which builds upon our Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) curriculum with advanced classes in eastern and western modalities. STUDENTS enroll in the HHP Program and then take the required number of courses to complete their program.
Relax with us at Somatherapy School of Massage Student Clinic! Our clinic provides students with the valuable opportunity to hone their skills by offering discounted massages to the general public. Our student clinic is open weekdays 9:30AM - 4PM and Saturdays from 8AM-3PM. Appointments are taken in advance.

I attended Somatherapy when it was in Palm Springs, the school was then sold around 2009 and moved. I loved the approach to teaching and every instructor knew their area of expertise with masterful skill. However the new owners somehow lost records of 2 of my basic classes. Ones I could not have gone on.to complete other classes that I did. When even the previous owner contacted the school and said I had taken these courses but the school said I would have to take $2000 in classes over again. Has anyone else had this issue?

I did extensive research before enrolling at Somatherapy Institute School of Massage last fall. I can say with confidence that Somatherapy is one of the best massage programs in the country. The school… director, Margaret is professional, prompt and well versed in all aspects of running an organization and really takes pride in the school and the student body succeeding. The teachers are well experienced therapists with years of training and education. I know the climate for massage has been challenging this year; however, I highly encourage anyone reading who is considering this program

I graduated from Somatherapy last year. I had a good time with my classmates. The teachers are knowledgeable. They don’t hold back theirs skill. Somatherapy was like an academic and massage technique oriented breath of fresh air! I give the entire administrative team and all of the class instructors 5 stars for being so wonderful. Somatherapy is by far the best massage school in the valley. They have the lowest price point & the best class instructors. Their academic schedule is very flexible and easy to fit into. Almost one year to the date I started a new adventure with Somatherapy and I officially completed the program!
It's always unsettling and scary to begin something new but due to the wonderful staff, diverse group of students, wonderful and talented instructors and even more amazing administrator, I was able to make this one of the most fulfilling and joyous journeys in my life.

I recently graduated from the program, preparing me to take the licensing exam—the MBLEx. I was able to complete the program in 9 months. I am impressed by the high quality of the instruction, the facility, and the quality of student peers. I should also note that this program is far less expensive than the competing programs in the Coachella Valley. As an update: the MBLEx was difficult, but I passed! I am glad I went to an effective school.

I have been coming to this massage school for the past 4 years and the students are very accomplished with techniques by the time they graduate. Some of the students are already professionals that have worked in possibly another state gaining hours for Ca or getting back into the biz and refreshing knowledge as well as taking advance classes. Definitely a great school.

When I first got interested in pursuing massage therapy as a career path I wanted to scope out my options on schools in the area, my first appointment was at somatherapy. The director of the school Margaret was very welcoming and full of very helpful information. The school is in excellent shape, very neatly organized and clean, I got a great feeling being there! I still went to a couple of other schools to see my other options and somatherapy set the bar high, the other schools I checked out were dirty and way over priced, plus there wasn't the same flexibility as far as class schedules.

When I arrived I had to fill out some paperwork because it was my first time there. Paperwork took less then 10 minutes to complete. The massage therapist who did my massage was very professional & concentrated for a nice period of time on the area that I said I had the most issues with. She did not talk much except to ask me once or twice if I was… ok. The rest of the time was spent giving my body the therapy that it needed oh so badly. This was my first experience at Somatherapy Institute and I didn't know what to expect. I've never had a student massage before, but I was very impressed. Her name was Gianni and she did an excellent job. She asked about any health issues and what pressure I preferred. I asked for a firm massage. It was the BEST massage I've ever gotten from a student. I would recommend Gianni for anyone who wants a relaxing massage.
The school charges $30 for hour and $40 for hour and half. Can't beat the price. I will definitely be coming back again and telling my friends as well!!!

Best deal you haven't taken advantage of yet!! I have had some really excellent massages here and am only sad that I can't always request the same therapist like you would at a spa. So long as the student still needs their hours you can ask for them, but soon enough you'll need to try someone new and admittedly some are more skilled than others... But, I've never not enjoyed my visit or regretted the cost. They always have you fill out a form at the beginning to determine health issues, soreness and special requests and then again at the end to assess/critique your massage

I am an alumni. I love the school since I am able to grow my knowledge of massage therapy. What I most appreciate about the school is that I was able to take one course at a time and over a span of 16 years acquired the necessary credits required for a Holistic Health Practitioner certification and additional courses to keep up with the trends of the industry.
