Israel Fermin has strong roots in the Worcester community, where he has lived since his early teenage years. He resided in the inner city neighborhoods of Worcester and graduated from South High School. Upon graduation Israel joined the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served his country and reached the rank of Sergeant.
After his service, he earned an undergraduate degree from Anna Maria College and a Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern University School of Law. Israel is married and has two young daughters. His parents are from Venezuela, and his extended family has roots in Puerto Rico, El Salvador and Mexico.
