Since our opening in 1985, our mission at Attitude First Martial Arts Academy is to encourage kids and adults alike to develop confidence, courage, and commitment to defend themselves, their hopes, and their dreams. We have developed and implemented programs that directly address a person's self-esteem, confidence, and decision-making skills using the martial arts as our basis.
We recognize the importance that a child has personal successful experiences to draw from. This way a child can build a positive image of him/herself and not rely on what others think. We teach children to believe in themselves both on and off the training floor. We design our classes so our kids have a safe place to burn off excess energy and the parents know that it's in a structured and safe environment.

It starts with the name.it is all about Attitude! Our training focuses on highly functional, no-nonsense applications. More importantly, our training focuses on awareness of many other important aspects of self-defense beyond the physical levels.
Although there are lots of hours spent at understanding the striking and manipulation stages of action, additional time is spent at recognizing and using defensive strategies in and out of contact and contact stages of action. It's at these stages that situations begin. Here an individual's levels of emotional, mental, and spiritual fitness are extremely important.

Parker was born in Hawaii in 1931 and began training in the martial arts at a young age in judo and later, boxing. Sometime in the 1940s, Ed Parker was first introduced to Kenp by Frank Chow. Frank Chow introduced Ed Parker to William Chow, a student of James Mitose who trained Parker while serving in the Coast Guard and attending Brigham Young University.

The knowledge, passion and respect Mr Robinson has for his students is wonderful. We have been apart of the Attitude First family for over 15 yrs; and the support and encouragement they provide to every one in the family is incredible. They focus on not only the forms and sets, but how those play into you being the best you both on & off the mat. He recognizes each persons (new to the art or experienced) level of knowledge & comfort and adapts to each during class. So the shy person is getting exactly what they need to succeed as well as the outgoing person.
