No matter how big or small, a wedding is more powerful, more hilarious, more honest, and let's be real, more fun than words can even handle. I know I'll never shoot the same wedding twice. It's my goal to tap into the pulse of what makes your wedding yours, and to document it exactly as it unfolds in a way that shows off the flair of who you are.
I've been a wedding photographer since 2011. That's a DECADE of experience capturing people and families in my little town - Leesburg, Virginia. Prior to starting my wedding photography business, I worked as a photojournalist in and around the DC area.

The short version of this review: Porter was easy to work with, the photos are amazing, and we genuinely had fun taking them. I would hire Porter again in a second - I can't recommend her enough!
The (very) long version: We needed a photographer for our small, backyard covid wedding and Porter was PERFECT. Here are just a few reasons I would recommend her to anyone:
-Taking portraits with Porter was SO FUN! My partner and I both dislike having our photos taken and expected to feel uncomfortable, but Porter had us laughing within minutes! She struck a great balance between giving us direction

Porter was really great, photographing our tiny elopement! We did couple's shots at the botanical garden and the west side of the Capitol, and then she took photos of the ceremony on a sidewalk in the shade of the Capitol. Porter was very professional and prepared, and she made sure to ask for, and take photos of, the various configurations of family members that we wanted. She was also patient while we waited for our out-of-town family, who'd gotten lost, to arrive. We booked a two-hour appointment, but ended up finishing a little early. She had 119 color photos for us to download nine

Porter was an amazing wedding photographer. She was professional, responsive, and her pictures are stunning. We had a lot of last minute changes and she was flexible with all of them. She even did an excellent job of including our puppy in photos. She was a lot of fun during the shoot and made us comfortable. We also didn’t have to wait long for the photos afterwards which was a big plus. Would absolutely work with her again!

Porter took our engagement photos and did a phenomenal job. She made us feel so comfortable that we both look like ourselves. And the composition and editing of the photos is perfect-- they are natural and colorful and beautiful. She has a terrific eye and her own style. I'd recommend her to anyone!

I first saw Porter's photography as a groomsman in a friend's wedding, and I thought she did such great work that my wife and I hired her to photograph our own recent wedding in Annapolis.
Porter takes absolutely amazing pictures, but also does a great job at getting everyone together for the wedding party and family photos, which can be a real challenge. She is also very responsive to calls and emails, and got us our pictures back in almost no time at all.
Seriously, I cannot recommend Porter enough!

Where do I even begin?! Porter is AWESOME! We connected with her through Pop Wed Co. when booking our wedding with them. We saw photos she had taken for other couples and specifically requested her. Porter was great to work with leading up to our wedding and the day-of. She was super responsive to emails and always willing to meet up for coffee or make time to talk via phone. For the quality of work and the experience of working with her, the cost is very reasonable. She was flexible with scheduling and we were able to book her for our reception too. Porter did my engagement photos and they are absolutely incredible! I have known Porter for a long time, and she even shot my sister's wedding September. After I saw the wedding photos I knew I wanted her to do my engagement pics because every photo was amazing (seriously go look at her blog: Julia + Chris). Even my fiance, who hates pictures and is honestly kind of a curmudgeon about them, was excited to set up the shoot and was a good sport throughout the entire thing; probably due to the fact that Porter is hilarious and makes the entire thing very comfortable.

Porter did our engagement photo session at Great Falls, It was fantastic and she was able to capture so many wonderful pictures for us. I am normally pretty uncomfortable in front of a camera and Porter was able to make the session feel natural and fun while still being exceptionally professional. Thanks again Porter!

Porter photographed our wedding a few weeks ago as well as a complimentary engagement photo session several months prior to that. She was by far our favorite wedding vendor of everyone we worked with and I would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone. Porter is the perfect mix of very organized/responsive/confidant and very down to earth/laid back/fun to be around. When my husband and I eloped last weekend, we had one priority other than spending the day together and eating a really good dinner: beautiful pictures. Porter delivered!
We are not a couple that takes a lot of pictures. We don't know the right way to stand, we are uncannily good at blinking, etc. As others have said, Porter is great at capturing moments without making you feel like you're on display. She may give you small guidance to help you get the best angles, but she mostly finds a beautiful space and lets you be yourselves.

If there were 6 stars, I'd give Porter all six. She was a rock star. From our very first email, I knew she would do an amazing job and she only exceeded those already high expectations. She was organized, on-time, friendly, fun, flexible and just on top of her game. She has an incredible eye that captures the spirit of the moment. I've only seen a few of the shots from our wedding so far but I've been blown away. I can't wait to see the rest and have no doubt that she'll knock my socks off. A++!

I cannot say enough about Porter! She was such a pleasure to work with and was totally laid-back and flexible (we rescheduled our engagement shoot, wait for it.... THREE TIMES due to rain!) She got up at the crack of dawn with us to do a sunrise shoot that turned out fantastic!! I am so happy with the pictures and would definitely recommend Porter to any of my friends. And... her prices won't break the bank! She definitely has a successful career ahead of her. Thanks Porter!!! :)

Porter was exactly the photographer we needed. We were looking for someone with a photojournalist's eye, and who would be comfortable with our very low-key, nontraditional event. Porter totally embraced it, and understood exactly what our priorities were (we didn't want a ton of posed group shots; we did want good portraits, and lots of photojournalistic candids, and shots of all of the details). She did all of that, beautifully. She also made the shoot painless for my husband, who hates having his picture taken -- she put us both completely at ease.
