Buchkosky Jewelers is a third generation family, jewelry store. Since its beginning in 1939, Buchkosky Jewelers has been serving the Minneapolis and St. Paul areas. Son of Polish immigrants, Helmuth W. Buchkosky graduated in 1935 from Dunwoody Institute as a draftsman. These were depression years, and finding work in his trade proved impossible.
We hear this question asked all the time, and the answer is always, "Yes!" What we have learned over time though, is that what people mean by 'custom' varies quite a bit. For that reason we always follow up our, "Yes!" with, "What did you have in mind?" To us custom designers, we tend to think of custom as a one-of-a-kind jewel that we design and build from scratch.

Titanium is a lightweight metal that has a very high strength to weight ratio, and high tensile strength. Two of it's most notable features are that it has excellant corrosion resistance, and is non-toxic. These features have allowed titanium to be used in a vast array of medical applications. A ring made from titanium is very light and comfortable, as well as hypo-allergenic.
Ceramic is an extremely hard material that makes a great material choice for jewelry. It is one of the hardest materials known to man. It is also solid black color all the way through not a plating or an external layer applied to an underlying material. The color will never scratch or wear away.
In case the ring needs to be removed in an emergency, the ring will crack and fall off, by squeezing with vice grips that are set to close just slightly smaller than the diameter of the ring.Alternatively we have a tool that is purpose built for this task in our store.

I honestly don't think I can rave enough about my wonderful experience here!! I brought in my vintage engagement ring to be resized and they were thoughtful, kind and extremely helpful. They explained the condition of the ring, told me what to look out for, and worked with me to get my ring to the perfect size. They even cleaned the ring and it sparkles like nothing I've ever seen before!! I will absolutely be back and will highly recommend to everyone!!

My elderly mother is quarantined in a nursing home. She had two pairs of broken glasses. This place was able to weld the broken pieces together for a reasonable price, with one day turn-around. The glasses are like new now! They also gave her watch an overnight bath and changed the battery for a reasonable price. The guys I met are friendly. They even take Apple Pay! I couldn't be happier!

I searched for a place to engrave Waterford crystal wedding champagne flutes with the wedding date. I am SO happy to have found Chris at Buchkosky Jewelers!!! Few jewelers will engrave a product they didn't sell you, and fewer still will engrave crystal - but Buchkosky does both, because they have the expertise (thank you Chris!) and they have confidence they won't break it. I could not have been more pleased!!! I highly recommend them!!!

I had an heirloom ring that lost a stone that I wanted to repair. Brenda was very helpful in helping me decide the grade of stone as well as the type of setting to place it in. Two years ago I was gifted a watch from Buchkosky Jewelers for Christmas. It has stayed in beautiful shape and I recently wore it to a wedding on the East Coast. A guest at the wedding spotted it and liked it so much she offered to buy it off my wrist. Instead I put her in touch with Buchkosky. The goldsmith tracked down the discontinued model based on a photo I provided and arranged a long distance shipment (it was the last one in the store!). I had been bringing my watch here for new batteries for a while because few other places claimed to be able to open the back of my particular watch. Buchosky was the only game in town, so I was easy prey. The batteries didn't last all that long, but I figured that was because I figured the watch was older. Then I learned about a place in St. Paul that does watch repair. I brought my watch in when it stopped recently and I could watch the replacement through glass. Surprise! I visited Buchkosky to have them evaluate a ring repair on a vintage ring. Sauli was extremely thorough and worked up an estimate. He also showed me on the magnifying camera some of the things that might be problematic. He explained the laser welding that was needed and the possibility that the top bezel might need replacing. His estimate was thorough and fair. (They have goldsmiths on site, so they don't send their work out.)
I also asked him to look at a necklace that needed a repair. It was minor, but he was willing to have it done right away so that I could pick it up in a half hour
