Mesaba Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Hibbing MN area for everything pet related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. David Kalinowski, who is a licensed, experienced Hibbing veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Dr. Kalinowski graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1990 and proceeded to move into private practice form there. After practicing veterinary medicine on the Iron Range for numerous years, Dr. Kalinowski decided to further his career by buying the Mesaba Animal Hospital in 2009.
He has since grown the business to the size of 3 doctors, 5 technicians, 3 receptionists, and numerous other individuals that perform vital tasks that make our animal hospital work on a daily basis.Dr. Kalinowski has the knowledge and skills to treat your pet, no matter the type. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, kayaking, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children.

We offer appointments for preventative care and non-urgent/emergency conditions six days a week. Emergencies are accepted any time our clinic is open. If you have an emergency, please call us before coming to the clinic so we can let you know if there is anything you can do for your pet before you arrive at our clinic and so we can prepare for your arrival.

1. Payment is required when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service, and minimizing costs, we do not bill. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card. 3. We understand that unexpected expenses sometimes occur with pets. Because of this, we do accept CareCredit.

Everyone is professional and friendly and has an absolute love for animals. I feel 100% comfortable with my dogs in their care, which is important to me as a reputable dog breeder. They are fully supportive and experienced with reproductive care, also having the most affordable rates in the Northland.

Called for a family member for her dog. Brought in a sample for them to test. No reply. Called them back as dog was getting worse. Was informed Dr. K. Had no room to see her and suggested to bring her to emergency care.to another town. The dog is a patient of his or now was. He apparently is to busy for his own patients. Still have not heard about the sample that was brought in.. Shame on you Dr.K.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality
Recently had to put our dog down. Dr. K allowed us as much time as we needed with our dog before and after and was extremely compassionate. He had cared for our dog for her 15 years while she was alive and we love the care he gave. We saw Dr. Molly a few times too and she is also great and knowledgeable!

Dr. K has been my family's vet (my parents used him back when I was younger) for over 15yrs. My animals (including my cat) love going to see him and are never anxious while waiting.
The staff here (the Vets especially!) are very personable and truly caring towards both the patient and the owner, compared to some vet clinics that I've had to use in the past.
Also, they try to be as cost conscious as possible.
