Kyle Spencer

I grew up in and around the San Francisco Bay Area, and was one of those doodling kids that wasn't terribly good at much else in school. As a teen I lived with my father and several roommates in a house where we had more art tables than living room furniture. I worked on layouts for the music & art magazines that he started and learned the printing and graphics trade in his backyard print shop.

Saturday mornings could mean waking up to a touring band that was crashing out in our living room. I painted album covers for punk rock bands, window signs for the local pizza joint, made a papier-mch mask that made it into Mad Magazine, rode my motorcycle with no helmet, and doodled. At 16 I was able to enter a junior college while still in high school to study graphic design.
