My name is Melissa Reed-Cavaluzzi and I am the director and owner of Carlsbad Country Day School. As a little girl, I always wanted to be a teacher. I would frequently line my stuffed animals up and teach them how to read and do simple math. When I finally got my first real job teaching kindergarten, I struggled to find a quality preschool I felt comfortable leaving my four year old son at.
Hello, my name is Nelida Barahona and I am the assistant director here at Carlsbad Country Day School. I have been working for this amazing program since we opened in 2006. Prior to working for CCDS, I specialized with infants and toddlers, gaining my master teacher certificate and obtaining years of classroom experience.

I have lived in Carlsbad for about three years with my husband of more than 30 years. I have two daughters Saba and Safa. My words can’t express how grateful we are for CCDS. I was a stay at home mom for over 2 years and am often described as a “helicopter mom.” I wanted to get back into the workforce but none of the childcare care options were up to our family’s standards. When we found Carlsbad Country Day we were so excited! We had big expectations and they’ve exceeded all of them. Every teacher cares about the kids like their own, and they even provide personalized updates on each child’s progress toward developmental milestones. My friend strongly recommended Mr. Melissa J and Carlsbad Country Day School. Hearing so much good things from my friends, we decided to move my daughter to CCDS despite the higher price. And so far I think that's one of the best decisions I have made. Ms. Melissa J teaches there because she cares about the kids. She not only teaches them the knowledge but build their emotional strength. She teaches the kids to be assertive and confident, kind and love, love yourself and others. The Carlsbad Country day school is the best . We all love it here ! Our daughter Veronika is 2,5 years old / we are from Slovakia so she speaks very little English so far but that is no problem at all/ and after just couple days she was perfectly fine and content there . Her teacher is wonderful Ms. Kim and she is really the best ! Loving and caring great teacher. We and our daughter just love her . When you are deciding about the right preschool you should choose this one for sure .We went to see many preschool in the area but the Carlsbad country day was really the best of the best !

Our daughters both attend Carlsbad Country Day School. They both love going each day and adore their friends and teachers (Ms. Ashley Coleman and Ms. Rachel Dominguez). As a parent you only want the best for your children and to know that they are in a safe and caring environment where they get to learn, play and laugh. We definitely feel this way about Ms. Ashley Coleman and Ms. Rachel Dominguez as well as with the rest of the staff. The facility is also very nice, has a lot of natural light and is always clean.

Our family tried four different preschools due to relocating. This is by far the best. My daughter went to carlsbad Country Day for two and a half years before starting kindergarten and my four-year-old son is currently enrolled here. The teachers are over qualified and treat my children as their own. My children love the teachers there. My son is currently in Mrs. Ashley's class and she keeps us updated on his progress daily. Not only is he learning a lot but he's making deep friendships and is emotionally and socially fulfilled. Our family is so thankful we found this school.

My experience with Carlsbad Country Day School has been way more than 5 stars. My daughter has been there for about 1.5 years and her progression in all categories of development is amazing. Everyday she comes home she is always telling us of her adventures at school, and sometimes she doesn't want to leave! She will even say on some Saturdays, "Can I go to school?" Her teacher Ms Jenny Wheeler is one of the best teachers I have met. She takes the time to make sure each student's needs are met, and that they are progressing in their child development.

Carlsbad Country Day School is such a warm and nurturing environment for children. My friend whose kids went to school there really enjoyed their time and always express their love for their teachers. They would mention that their teacher, Miss Jenny is so nice and that they always look forward going to school because of her great personality, patience, creative lessons and very engaging classroom activities. My friend is very proud of how much her children have learned and grown while at CCDS. This school will be at the top of my list once I have my own children!!!

I am currently pregnant and was looking for a facility for my son in January, 2015 when I have to go back to work. I have been very particular with who will be watching over my little one. This is our first and I am not sure how I feel about going back to work. But, after going into Carlsbad Country Day School I knew that the teachers would be taking care of my son just like I would. The facility is so clean and well kept!! They have so many great amenities for when he gets older and goes in to preschool like 2 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day, enrichment classes and my favorite is the Kiddie

Great school, miss Jennifer Wheeler is the BEST teacher ever!!!! she is part of our family, my son loves her and he has learned a lot in his first year with her. CCDS is my son's second home (more than a daycare or school), he feels happy everyday to meet miss Jenny and his friends. All the staff and teachers working in the school are very friendly and professionals, the meals and snacks that they provide my son are healthy and delicious!!! I feel lucky to have my only child in Carlsbad County Day School and to have the BEST TEACHER!!! thank you miss Jenny.

We are very happy with Carlsbad Country Day School. Our daughter has been in the school for a little more than a year now and she loves to go to school. The facility is new, food is good and most importantly the teacher is awesome. In particular, Miss Jenny is such a great teacher and we are so glad to have our kid in her class. She is great with the kids and they all love her. She keeps the parents current with the progress of the kids with the review book and Facebook. She is very attentive to details and can find every small progress our daughter can make.
