Established over 25 years ago Health Motion is the premier manual physical therapy specialist in Grand Rapids. Our unique approach, utilizing the Scale of Function, has earned us a reputation for high quality therapy that produces great results. The Scale of Function breaks the physical function of the body down into 4 phases covering a total of 10 steps.
These phases and steps form a gradient scale of function, meaning that each higher level of function on the scale depends upon the functions below it. Discovering the first steps to take after an injury, or just figuring out what is causing your pain, can be a confusing task. We're here to help find the best path to move you forward.

I came in 5 weeks ago in a state of limited movement and continuous pain in my hip and lower back but, I am now pain-free! I am a regular runner and swimmer but had been unable to exercise due to misalignment and over using muscles to contract weakened muscles. Now I can run 10+ miles pain free and swim 2-3 times per week.

Over the years I have tried various physical therapy facilities. Once I found Health Motion it is the only place I keep returning to help get me back to an active lifestyle. I have had 4 foot surgeries over 5 years, and TJ and the entire staff have done an excellent job of helping me get back on my feet pain free, both before and after surgery. I recommend them to everyone I know.

Health Motion was a far superior place for physical therapy compared to the first center I went to for help with my injured arm and for difficulties walking. The staff was extremely professional and friendly and the results I got were amazing! Each 1 1/2 hr. session included one-on-one time with a PT, electrode stimulation to reduce inflammation and one-on-one time with a PT assistant to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. After each visit, I received a print-out with pictures and explanations for each assigned exercise. Couldn't ask for anything better!
