Sometimes we find ourselves stuck. We're not sure how we got here or how to even begin moving forward. Some are fortunate to receive support from friends and family, but even then, sometimes it helps to have the empathy and understanding of an outsider. Often, when we're in the middle of a mess, it's difficult to see any options before us.
It may seem odd to consider speaking with a stranger about your difficult feelings, troublesome thoughts, and patterns of unhealthy behavior, but sometimes we need to gain some perspective, get out of our own head, and hear some fresh feedback. My name is Julie and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington.

Services
I primarily work with individuals, ages 10 to 110, with a variety of concerns and issues, although I am most passionate about working with women and adolescents. It is often helpful to include a family member or support person in your treatment, to provide additional feedback and encouragement. When I work with minors, I ask that parents respect the privacy of their child's treatment.
My husband and I are relatively new to the state of Washington. We, along with our three cats, moved from the great state of Ohio to the majestic state of Washington to quench our need for adventure! We live in the small town of Sultan and love our new community. During our free time, we love to explore Seattle, play music, go on hikes, Skype with our friends and family back home, try out new restaurants, and take bike rides.
You can expect our first session (Intake) to last about 80 minutes. This first appointment lasts longer than typical counseling sessions because I must complete a full Diagnostic Assessment. In making assessments and recommendations, I consider the whole person: physical, psychological (mental/emotional), social, and spiritual.
Unfortunately, there is a stigma surrounding the mental health field and those whom seek help for their problems. There is this idea that only those with "severe mental problems" or people who "can't manage their own problems" should consider seeing a therapist. This idea is isolating, misleading, and just plain false.
