RPBJJ was originally established in 2009 with a goal of bringing authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the mats of Rio De Janeiro to Cleveland, OH.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground and provides a greater position to resolve the conflict by using submission holds.
BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).A student can train in BJJ for self-defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling), and mixed martial arts competition.

Head instructor of Rio Pro BJJ. I wanted to thank you for checking out my program. Today i'm a successful business owner and martial artist full of confidence and pride in my program. But it wasn't always this way. As a child I was a quiet, shy, and nervous kid without a direction in life. It wasn't until I stepped foot into the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 14 that my life drastically improved.
Classes at Rio Pro are a mixed with both men and women with also a separate program just for kids. We along with our students ensure that no matter who walks into our schools that they will be more than comfortable inside our programs. You do not have to be in your 20's to start training. The average age of our adult students is 30 with many students in their 40's, 50's, and even 60's.
I have trained at Rio Pro as a supplement to my MMA training. They have top notch instruction and the intense training I need as a UFC fighter. If you are in the Cleveland area, I definitely recommend stopping by and checking them out. Rio Pro BJJ is a diamond in the rough in the stacked wrestling state of Ohio.

I have trained at several other excellent schools before relocating to Cleveland and am a blue belt under Prof. Pedro Sauer. Rio Pro is the friendliest training environment I have experienced. The atmosphere is competitive, but everyone is concerned about the safety of their training partners. Prof. Ante has a unique ability to break down techniques and to help students make their game work for them.

I've been training here for over two months. Great atmosphere to train in. People from all walks of life with a common goal. Instructor Ante is a down to earth guy who treats you like family. The staff is super friendly and the students are easy going. You don't get looked down upon because you are a lower belt. My only regret is not starting my training sooner.

The instructors that are actually at the school are great! The owner is a guy name Ze and he lives in Brazil. I met him one time and he told me to keep with jiu jitsu and to keep paying that monthly bill so he can keep partying in Brazil. He also told me thanks for the BMW. Jiu jitsu is about honor, respect and loyalty...... Everything Ze does not display.

I've been a student at Rio pro for about a year and my son has been a student for two years and my daughter for going on eight months. The instructors are very thorough and knowledgeable of This art. Jiu jitsu is about more then promotions and rank it's a art a lifestyle and it helped changed my life and I thank RIOPRO BJJ for that!
