Yes, that's me. I am a partner in Charting Nature with my wife, Jane. We are both from New York State. Not New York, NY, but upstate New York. I grew up in Oswego, a small college town north of Syracuse on Lake Ontario. Jane and I met at SUNY Oswego. After college, I taught high school science for a short time in Rochester, NY and then was offered a job in Washington, DC at the US Naval Observatory.
Between 1827 and 1838, James Audubon, the noted American ornithologist and naturalist, published the folio "The Birds of America". Containing life-sized portraits of 1,065 individual birds, it was published in four volumes. Charting Nature offers Audubon Lithographs with reproductions of about 60 of the most popular bird prints from this collection.
The Heirloom Rose Prints we sell are restored chromolithograph illustrations from Belgian and French publications (1868-1923) of botanical art. Collectors of botanical art, as well as serious gardeners, subscribed to these periodicals, which were released in monthly installments. They make great vintage floral wall art decor.
Beautifully restored mushroom art are from nineteenth-century identification charts and antique prints. These scientifically accurate and artistically appealing mushroom prints seem to rise from the paper to greet you. Wall art decor for the gourmet cook, mycologist, fungi enthusiast or just general art lover, these mushroom prints add grace (and a touch of whimsey) to any decor.
Our coordinated collection of tree prints and other assorted grasses contains predominantly cool and soothing shades of green, the botanical "neutral." Alone or in a set, this expertly restored 18th and 19th Century vintage tree art makes strikingly elegant wall decor. Prints may be ordered alone, or in sets, double-matted, framed unmatted, or matted and framed.
