Coral Gables Congregational Early Childhood Center
The Early Childhood Center believes that children are active and curious by nature and will become engaged learners in the realm they know best - the hands-on world of play. We believe there is a critical link between a child's early experiences, the development of a love for learning, and their later success in life.

We strongly affirm that children, families, and society all benefit from enriched and high-quality early childhood programs. That is why we offer a program that provides a child with the ability to learn through play with many opportunities for socialization and intellectual growth.
Services
Our Two-Year-Old program is focused on providing a positive initial learning experience for each child in preparation for early success and school readiness. Through games, art, songs and finger plays, children's literature and activities, our two-year-old children learn and grow at their own pace.
School days in ECC's 3s classrooms are full of play, exploration, and discovery - but there's a lot going on behind the scenes. Developmentally, three-year-olds also have vivid imaginations and our program promotes pretend play and storytelling. This includes costume boxes, dolls, puppets, toy animals, construction materials and props that rotate throughout the year.
The Pre-Kindergarten program at ECC aims to enrich and teach the children through play as well as structured learning to prepare them for Kindergarten. There are many skills we work on throughout the year including upper and lower case letters, sight words, simple math, skip counting and story comprehension.
The ECC Kindergarten program's model is play-based as well as academic. The small class size allows for more individualized instruction, so the need of each child is met. Our kindergarten day begins with a "morning meeting" to build confidence and class room community. The rest of the day consists of reading, language arts (phonics/phonemic awareness, grammar, and Writer's Workshop), math, science, and social studies.

This schoold exhibits the perfect balance of education and play. These qualities combined with a strong nurturing environment, has allowed both of my daughters to thrive. As a result, they have developed great academic, emotional and social skills. The children feel no pressure while attending and I as a parent feel a level of trust in leaving my child in very capable hands. My children now have a love for school and learning. For these and many other reasons, I highly endorse E.C.C.

The new principal has destroyed this school. It is a shame! Do not send your children here if you want them to learn. It's a fine day care no more.
