Inspired by her upbringing in Bangkok, Thailand, Chef-Artist Nongyao "Moon" Krapugthong grew up helping her father prepare exotic, robust dishes with fresh ingredients from the morning market. She learned at a young age, the value of preparing quality food from the most wholesome ingredients-the secret to her success as a chef.
To Moon, food is about a complete experience-one that extends far beyond an everyday meal and menu. It's learning to grind fresh cilantro roots and ginger to create the base for an intoxicating marinade at a cooking class; it's discovering how much heat your palate can take during Chabaa's annual spicy contest.

When I first moved to Philly, I looked for a while for a nice sit-down Thai restaurant. Because I was new and in the Germantown area, I was hesitant to venture into downtown just for food. Chabaa popped up on my radar when my friend who is a local invited me here for dinner.
We sat inside and were able to order quickly. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and it came served on a plate with the pineapple peel as the container/bowl. It was a unique and artsy presentation. The fried rice was good but not the best I've ever had. The volume of food was fine, not huge. I'd imagine

My first experience here at 7pm on a Saturday deserved 5 stars but unfortunately I went back at 8:45pm this past Friday and they dropped 1.5 stars. Overall, the food is delicious and some of the best Thai I've had. We tend to get the Tom yum, panang and pad thai. This time the pad thai was a little too sweet, the soup was not hot and the service was pretty amateur and awkward. I think server was new and still trying to figure things out. Definitely worth a try and hope things get better to their usual 5 stars. FYI it's a BYOB and they are associated with the sushi place next door and

Went here randomly. Walked in with no reservations and was able to be seated promptly. Ordered Gyoza as an appetizer and Pad Thai. I had never had either but both were decent. The noodles in my Pad Thai seemed a little over cooked but not enough to put me off the dish. The mango sticky rice we had for dessert was sweet and refreshing. Overall I enjoyed my meal

We really enjoyed our dinner at Chabaa.
We got the sampler, tom yum soup with shrimp, pad Thai with fried duck, papaya salad, and gaenge dang (red curry) with chicken.
Their dumplings in the sampler was the most memorable along with the chicken satay. Tom yum was nice and sour with a kick of heat from the chili. Personally, I would add just a hint more sugar to the broth to round out the tang, but I still enjoyed it either way!
The papaya salad was pretty good & refreshing. The pad Thai was delicious in terms of flavor and texture. I would just ask for the noodles to not be cut so short

Monday night we had the honor of dining here for the first time since the Pandemic started, and we were truly blown away by our experience. The staff was extremely welcoming and kind. Chef Moon spent a lot of quality time with us, giving us recommendations, and genuinely getting to know us. It is apparent that she is passionate about her staff, her customers, and making sure that she creates delicious meals! We felt honored to have met her!
It is very obvious that Chabaa Thai Bistro and Yanako have made a tremendous effort in keeping their customers and employees safe during the Pandemic by requiring

This is my go-to delivery spot for Thai food. Spicy and delicious! I've had so many things on their menu, and everything has been great. I love all of the curries the most, the green curry and Panang are my favorite. The king crab fried rice is so tasty. I also love their Thai iced tea but unfortunately I can't have it delivered anymore because the past 2 times they put it in the bag with the food and by the time it was delivered, it was spilled all over our food. So I only got to drink like 1/2 of those drinks and had to spend time cleaning up Thai iced tea all over the place. :( I&apos

Got a delivery order during COVID-19 restrictions. Excellent food, delivery was as scheduled and as ordered. The Panang Curry tofu was classic. The spring rolls (tofu and shrimp, and vegetable), even after transport for delivery, held up very well and were excellent. The Crepe Pad Thai was impressive in the freshness of the ingredients, although my Deputy Yelper complained a bit that the seasoning could have been more robust. But overall, definitely worthy of 5 stars. Will order again.

This place was good! It wasn't my all time favorite but the people were crazy nice, the atmosphere was lovely and you can tell they put a lot of love into the space!
I had the crispy chicken pad Thai which was delightful! It wasn't as flavorful as other pad Thai's that I've had but like I said was still good! My husband a special, I can't remember the name but was a Cornish hen curry casserole type dish and he also liked that! We also had the sampler which you can't go wrong with.
Overall a good experience!

Chabaa is located on Main Street in "downtown" Manayunk and connected to Yanako. I haven't been to Yanako yet but I'm sure I'll check it out soon. Chabaa is a Thai bistro known for its Thai curry and Pad Thai dishes. We arrived around 7 on Friday night and were surprised that it was fairly empty. We were quickly seated and immediately were bummed that we didn't bring any booze. It's a BYOB, like many places in Philadelphia. For restaurant week, they had 3 options for all three courses (appetizer, entrée, and dessert) that seemed to blend both Chabaa and Yanako

Overly priced. Not really that great. It should have more dollar signs for the low value you get.
I ordered Shrimp Satay and it came literally with two shrimp. While the shrimp were good, it was way too expensive for what it was.
We also ordered a bowl of Shrimp Tom Yum soup. This was more expensive when compared to the chicken or tofu versions and while it was good, would i pay $6 for a bowl of shrimp tom yum again? Heck no.
For a main course we ordered the red snapper i think. It was fried and then the meat was deboned so it was only on one side. The sauce was supposed to be spicy, but there

Probably the best Thai restaurant in Philly. Very good, yet short of sensational. Service is quite nice, space is laid out well, and the flavors are good. Prices are also pretty reasonable. Yet I wish there was somewhere better than here or that Chabaa was just a bit better. Still easily worth going to. Good mix of dishes.
BYOB, but Thai iced tea is also quite good if you are not in the mood for alcohol
Recommended Foods:
Apps: Spring Rolls ($7 for two), Satay Chicken ($9 for four skewers)
Soup: Tom Yum (chicken: cup $6, bowl $9; shrimp: cup $8, bowl $12)
Salads: Num Tok ($12)

I asked for a thai massage and my boyfriend and I both got an oil massage. At first I didn´t know whether I should say something, I then told her after 30 mins that I wanted a thai massage. she changed then but as it was a surprise for my boyfriend he didn´t say anything. I was disappointed and complained at the end but she only kept saying sorry, Sorry wasn´t going to help. I´m not going back there again.

A real shame as I am looking for a good massage in the city. Nice lady but I didn't find her professional. There was a mix up on the booking (a language issue) which meant she stopped a massage halfway through with another client to accommodate me. Should I have known I would have insisted that she continued and I would wait another 20 mins. He wasn't very happy!
For the hour that I was there she answered her phone 3 times and let in a customer and got him tea, all in the middle of the massage. Two of these times she was away for at least 4 minutes each time and wondering where she had gone only
