At our office in Dickson, TN, we offer a wide variety of dental services using cutting-edge technology. Dr. Gatgens is a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry, completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency focusing on implant placement and restoration.

Before opening Accent Smile Center in December of 2009, he practiced dentistry in East Tennessee and the Green Hills area in Nashville, TN. Continuous learning is a lifelong passion for Dr. Gatgens and he and his team regularly attend continuing education courses to ensure they have the knowledge and training to offer to best quality dentistry for their patients.
Keeping your teeth clean is one way to take care of your dental health. And since your teeth affect your overall health, it's really important you make it a priority. Remember to brush twice daily, floss and visit us for maintenance and more complex dental problems. Did you know that dental health is linked to a number of diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes?
The images can be adjusted and expanded, allowing for dentists to see conditions more clearly, which in turn leads to better diagnosis and better treatment for patients. This new technology enables Dr. Gatgens to take one low radiation, high-definition, 3D CT scan, lasting under five seconds, to give us all the X-rays we need for your treatment.
Fluoride is used to strengthen teeth. Today, it's found in most drinking water, but many people grew up without the benefit of fluoride if their water source was from a well. Also, the fact many Americans drink bottled water today makes it more important to see your dentist to have that added benefit at the office.

I truly appreciate the opportunity that Accent Dental gave me this morning when they gave me an appointment to bring my visiting 7 year old grandson in to remove a baby tooth that was totally loose (I was not able to remove it because of the discomfort from me pulling it). Accent Dental recognized the need to remove the tooth for me and did not request legal guardianship (as other area dental offices were requesting as if I was requesting major surgery to be performed on him). I have had an excellent experience every time I’ve gone! Kind and thoughtful staff (even giving me a blanket when I was cold), up to date technology and Dr Gatgens did a great job explaining my dental options without making me feel pressured. I absolutely love Accent Smile. When I moved to Tennessee 3 years ago I searched extensively for a dentist. I finally decided on Accent Smile...and omg I am so happy I did. I love Accent Smile! They are helpful in explaining procedures and expenses so you know what to expect. Gentle, respectful, professional and kind. I know they use the highest rated equipment on me. You can frequently hear laughter from patients and staff. That tells me patients are comfortable and relaxed in this office and it is a good place to work. My comfort level is important and pain is minimized at all times. Thank you Dr. Gattens and staff for providing the best care I can get. I don’t even mind the 45 minute drive to get here. IT’S WORTH IT!

I have always been so terrified of going to the dentist, and it’s always given me the worst anxiety. I immediately felt so at home and comfortable here though. Everyone was so understanding and kind. It’s been a while since I’ve last been to the dentist, and I didn’t feel judged or anything. Hands down the best experience, if you have any anxiety about going to the dentist, this is the place to go!
