We had taken our dogs to see Drs. Skinner and Thompson for the 4 years we have lived in VA. When our oldest Dachshund got sick at age 15, they ran test after test to see what was wrong, it must have just been old age, because nothing showed up, yet she continued to go downhill. On the day we decided to let her go since she was in such pain, they couldn't have been more caring, more personable with Sammie and with us as we said goodbye.
Not 6 months later, our younger Dachshund lost the use of her legs, after several acupuncture treatments not helping, we decided to let her go. Again, so very caring

I wholeheartedly recommend Hartfield Animal Hospital for your pet. In all the pets we have had they did not disappoint to provide excellent care. Both Dr. Steve Skinner and Dr. Katherine Thompson are highly professional and responsive. Recently we had a dog who got into a snack mix to which I had to call on a potential emergency. Dr. Skinner answered and was very thorough with his questions and answers. Their assistants are equally professional.

Dr.Skinner is one of the best Vets around..He is an excellent communicator and explains treatments and his diagnosis extremely well.He also stays close to all new techniques and research.The staff is great and the facility is very clean.I trust my 4 legged kids to Hartfield animal hospital to the fullest extent. We have been clients since 2008 when we moved to the area. Both vets take plenty of time with you and your furbaby bc they know most people today consider their pets as members of the family. It can be a little difficult to get in at times especially if you call on a Monday or Friday for same day appointment. Recommend making your appointment in advance so they can reserve same day appointments for emergencies.

I drive many miles to the next county because the vets here are the best. Dr Skinner listens, asks the appropriate questions and makes the right diagnosis. My experience of taking my dog to an emergency vet and spending a lot of money for a misdiagnosis was an eye-opening experience. After that I took my dog to Dr Skinner and got the right diagnosis and treatment. I go to no other vet; it’s not worth it.

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Thompson for years. She listens to the owner, takes a logical step-by-step approach to diagnostics, and offers incredible continuity of care. She is extremely knowledgeable and marries traditional veterinary medicine with natural remedies/supplements for a holistic approach to pet care. I can’t recommend this veterinary hospital enough.
