Dr. Paavola graduated from Ross University in 1985. He has been at Erie Animal Hospital ever since, working in the building he grew up in and growing the practice his father started in 1952. He spearheads the renovation and maintenance projects which have brightened and modernized the building over the past few years.
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently schedule services for your pet. Our team will attempt to accommodate requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted any time our hospital is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us if possible before coming in, so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency, and so that we can prepare for it.

My family has taken our animals to the Erie Animal Hospital since our first guinea pig 20 years ago. We have always had good care. The doctors are kind to the animals and the vet techs have always been friendly and competent. The front desk staff can be a little abrupt sometimes, but I have seen that is just the nature of the person, who is actually a nice person underneath the abrupt exterior. The doctors and staff were caring and wonderful to our family when we had to put one of our aging and suffering dogs down. I have only used one other animal hospital which was way more up to date and

My first experience at the Erie Animal Hospital was bland and nothing special. I brought my first puppy to this establishment and was let down each appointment, time after time. My puppy was diagnosed with Giardia (a common parasite found in puppies). He was treated five times over the course of 3 months. I called the vet many times expressing my concern, because his symptoms did not change. After the vet could not come up with a plan of attack to get ride of the giardia I decided to conduct my OWN research. My small toy poodle should have been on several cycles of the medicine because giardia
