I became a dentist due to the influence and dedicated example of my dad, who was a dentist in the Calumet region for 50 years. I have been practicing dentistry for 27 years, and the ability to change someone's life through quality dental care is very exciting to me, whether I am providing routine care, cosmetic correction, or working with an apprehensive patient.
Rick Johns Dental has been honored to serve the Highland, Munster and surrounding communities for over 27 years, and is dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence in dentistry started by Dr. John's father, Richard S. Johns, DDS, in 1947. Ours is a friendly, family-oriented practice that believes strongly in the importance of old-fashioned customer service combined with modern dental technology.

Hands down great dentist and dental hygienist! I have been going here since his dad was the dentist. Great service and very timely and fast. Kelly has been cleaning my teeth for a long time and she is very thorough and informative. They refer you to north west oral surgeons for other work and they are top notch as well! I would have a hard time going anywhere else than Dr. Rick Johns and I hope he never retires!

Six years ago I contacted Dr. Johns office because I was experiencing tooth pain. I had not been to a dentist for over 10 years, and I was nervous and a little embarrassed that I let my dental health deteriorate. Once I arrived at Dr. Johns office the staff (Big thanks to Tina, Cindy and Mia) was friendly, compassionate, and did not pass judgment. Dr. Johns and his team have worked with me over the past several years to get my dental health back to normal. This has been my dental office for my whole life, and I’ve never had any desire to go elsewhere. Dr. Johns has always been fantastic, and I appreciate his clear explanations about what’s going on with my teeth. In fact, everyone who works here is friendly and competent. Many people in the office have been employed there for years, and I think that speaks to the quality of an establishment.
