Meaningful experiences are the best foundation for reading. By giving your child pleasant involvement by doing, we are also providing a solid base for future reading. Each child will be read to daily, in both the mornings and afternoons. This is often made even more exciting through the use of flannel board stories, finger plays or big books.

Services
Your preschool-aged child is making great strides in his fine motor skills, language skills, and social skills. As he enters preschool, your child will be encouraged to learn and grow in these areas even more. Preschool will build her social skills through play, interaction, and group activities. As you drop off your child on his first day of VPK, you will probably be feeling a mixture of pride, worry, and apprehension.
Dairy Road Discovery Center has programs for children ages 18 months through the sixth grade. We are a certified VPK PROVIDER. We would love to have your family stop by for a tour of our school. The Discovery Center has two buildings.
For our youngest classes, the Cottage offers a "homey" feeling with custom sized tables, chairs, and even potties, giving our students the feeling of security while promoting their growing independence on the right-sized scale.Our Barn side, which rotates the older classes including VPK, has a larger design and feel, helping to prepare the growing students for their future schools.

DRDC boasts a "homegrown" thematic and literature based curriculum for all of our classes, 18 months-5 years old. Each week of the year has it's own theme, covering everything from Down on the Farm, to Safety Helpers, to Dinosaurs! Our staff and curriculum coordinator work together to create a rich experience each week for your child.
We take pride in providing developmentally appropriate environments and activities for all of our children, and along with the socialization that preschool provides to young children, we do not underestimate the importance of kindergarten preparedness for our "graduates." Our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program for 4-year-olds is top-notch.
Does my child have to be potty trained to come to preschool? Certainly not! We are very experienced in potty training and are more than happy to help you and your child reach that milestone. We will stay in communication with you about how they are doing as school and decide together with the parents when it's time to progress to "big boy" or "big girl underwear."

If your looking for a wonderful place to care for your child, Dairy Road Discovery Center is the place to go. The teachers & all staff are so friendly, & they all know your child's name. Its a small, quaint, perfect little school... I wish they took younger than 18 months so I could send my soon to be born their too! Thank you DRDC for taking such great care of my son & giving me peace of mind while I am at work, knowing he is in great caring hands.
