Dr. Mammales' life changed one day when he was a young teenager. He was a typical boy that was very active in sports. He had a girlfriend and was a state champion black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. He wrestled and played baseball. He led a normal life until one day while at wrestling practice he was severely injured after having his back twisted in the wrong direction.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are replacing traditional orthopedic surgery in many instances for conditions ranging from soft tissue injuries (tendonitis, muscle tears, ligamentous injuries) to various joint afflictions, such as a torn meniscus or mild to moderate arthritis of the joint. Platelets and accompanying stem cells are our body's primary repair mechanism, whether in healing an injury or recovering from surgery.
