J.R. began with Selecta in '93 as manager and became the owner in '03. He lives in SF with his wife and 2 sons. His father was one of the original owners. J.R. is an avid fly fisherman, known well for his barbecue skills, and attends auto body workshops and seminars around the country with regularity.
Our Bernal Heights Location is the latest chapter in the Selecta story. As a small family business we understand the economic value of supporting local shops. We've been lucky to be part of the diverse range of local businesses serving: Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, Glen Park, the Mission District and SF as a whole - for over 40 years.

I can't believe such an awesome body shop lives just a few blocks from me! It immediately looks appealing with a cool retro sign plus custom Sirron Norris artwork out front. But more importantly, they were 100% professional every step of the way from:
+ Intake and estimate

+ High quality work
+ Really cleaning the rest of the car up, inside and out
+ Being flexible with me with regards to pickup.

Amazing shop. They worked on both of my cars recently. One with insurance payment for a hit and run, and one was self pay for some bumps and scratches accumulated over the years. Everyone is super nice, super competent, and their prices are very reasonable. Plus, they unexpectedly cleaned both of my cars better than I've ever done it myself for no additional fee. It's been a while since I've experienced such amazing customer service. I recommend them without reservation.

Run from this place! Selecta was given a great running car and returned it with a dead battery! Had a terrible and exasperating experience with Jeremy and Selecta. Honda was running great when it was brought it to Selecta for a rear end bumper replacement. One + week later picked up the car, drove it home and won't restart! AAA jumps it and says bring it to Honda as it was a fairly new OEM battery (100 month guarantee) with 73 months remaining. HONDA LETTER STATES SELECTA WAS NEGLIGENT and left battery on during the week + they were repairing it. (Open car door etc) Selecta/Jeremy says

After my car got hit, State Farm recommended Selecta. It couldn't have gone better. My car was done in 5 days and it looks great. They kept me informed with regular texts about the process and with updates on the progress. I would recommend Selecta to anyone that has to have bodywork on their vehicle.

Amazing experience. Had an accident involving the rear spoiler of my 2018 CRV and the garage. Gene was very helpful over the phone, was able to get me in for an inspection and ordered the part right away. Part was backordered, no need for a deposit, and when the part came in 2.5 weeks later, was able to get the car in and fixed up within half a day. Car interior was vacuumed, car wash as washed - amazing service throughout. Would recommend to anyone.

They did a great job on my wife's Rav-4, plus they did a few extra things like buffing out some scratches and getting a new rubber pad for the rear bumper. Toyota does not have an extra pad to cover the rear bumper, so they used a pad made for a Subaru, it fit perfectly. It was a pleasure dealing with Gene, he was very helpful and professional. I would highly recommend Selecta Auto Body to my family and friends

Kind of an overdue review. And I apologize to this business for taking so long to make a review. Had a major accident last year with my 2015 Toyota Highlander. Someone made an illegal u-turn across a double yellow and t-boned the front driver's side part of my car. My car was towed to this place and from there, it was easy as pie. Took care of all the insurance mumbo jumbo and got my car back in less than 2 weeks(I have State Farm). Selecta Auto Body did an excellent job on repairing the damage on my car. I I had scraped two of the passenger side doors on the cement in my garage, this was not covered by insurance. They had to remove two doors and the windows to do the repairs. They also did a few light scratches with the left over paint. I got two quotes and the other body shop charged me for 95 hours of work while Selecta charged me for 58 hours of work, I saved 37% on the cost of repairs by using Selecta. My car was finished when they said and it looks beautiful.

I got into a car accident and Selecta Auto Body was awesome. They were super attentive every step of the way and made everything super easy and non-intimidating to go through. They worked closely with my insurance (State Farm) and even though more work had to be done than their original estimate, everything went smoothly. Communication was great throughout and I would highly recommend them to anyone. It took them about a week to fix everything (which was very fast in my opinion) and were very clear and careful with COVID protocols.

I never write reviews but this outstanding act deserves to be known. You are dealing with an auto body shop (arguably the best in SF.), that not only is highly efficient and fair, but this auto body shop did something for me that still has my mind blown. I called in asking about an estimate for some cosmetic damage to my front fender. I had backed out of a garage spot and missed that a pole was sitting right there. Selector has super nice really good people working on my car. I was paying out of pocket and they did all they could do to keep my price down.

+ Courteous. I was in a pinch on a Monday morning and the rep said to come over so the staff could examine my issue. When I go there they greeted me with a smile vs annoyance that I had shown up without an appointment.
+ Extra mile. JR and Pablo both inspected my issue and decided to tackle it at NO cost. It was a simple fix apparently! I tipped Pablo who had done the work and made my cruddy Monday morning feel like an amazing Friday afternoon!
+ Fast. Inspected and out on the road without being a hazard to myself and

I needed a tail light for my car after a neighbor's car door swung open when he pulled away from a parking spot that was behind my car. He forgot to close his passenger car door and it smashed my tail light. He was honest enough to leave a note!
