Bojuka Ryu was founded by Shihan Eddie G. Stewart. He designed this art based on his experience in Boxing, Japanese JuJitsu, Judo, and Karate, both Japanese and Korean styles. During his career in the military, he was exposed to many other different styles of martial arts including Tang Soo Do, Chito Ryu, Judo, Kodenkan Jujitsu, and Aikido.
The majority of his time in the Army was in the capacity of a hand-to-hand combat instructor. His competition experience included Golden Gloves boxing, and also time spent in the karate ring and Judo mat. His dedication to Bojuka Ryu and the Martial Arts was immeasurable. He spent many tireless hours to help his students and support the Arts.

After two months of the same class, little was learned. First 15-20 minutes of class is spent learning from other students, not the instructors because the Owner is busy talking with parents of children in prior and upcoming class. Classes are back to back so little time for instructors to rest and they instead spend the first 15-20 minutes hardly with the class that is just beginning. Newcomers get very little 1:1 time with head instructors and instead are paired with other students, and even being taught the wrong way to do things because of this. Some days there are a large group of people others

My 8 year old girl has taken Judo at Bojuka Ryu since she was 5. Her experience has been wonderful in so many ways. I noticed a big boost in her confidence within just a couple months of having started. She went from being shy and easily intimidated to outgoing and self assured. Then I began seeing her leadership skills developing.
Not only is she learning Judo from her wonderful Senseis but she is learning how to teach Judo to the little ones who are just starting. She takes this responsibility serseriously and is proud of it. All the kids take turns "opening class" by leading the warmup exercises

Sensei Janine is a wonderful teacher and mentor. If you are looking for a new workout, want to feel empowered, lose weight and learn to protect yourself, sign up! The dojo offers womens judo, bojuka (combo of karate and judo), co-ed classes, and childrens classes. The instructors are so supportive, attentive and insightful to help you improve. I have been learning at the dojo for the last few months and I feel so empowered! Thank you!
