The Schoolhouse was converted into a restaurant in 1962 by our parents Dr. Donald & Phyllis Miller. They wanted to open a restaurant where families could come together for a meal that was reminiscent of memories of their own childhoods when the family gathered at dinner time, eating around the dinner table family style.
It was a time everyday when the busy family could catch up on the day's events then the kids could go outside to play tether ball or whatever kids do, while the grown ups talked. What a great memory! Our menu relies on simple, all-American foods that remind us of home. Traditional entrees of fried chicken, roast beef, country fried steak, meatloaf, ham, BBQ ribs, baked cod, and salmon to name a few of our delicious offerings.

The Camp Dennison School was built in 1864 after the conclusion of the Civil War and was occupied from 1870 - 1952 as part of the Hamilton County School District. It was one of the first 2 room, 2 story brick schools built in the Midwest. It was designed in a cross construction pattern with gables containing Italianate style bracketing on the corners.
The Schoolhouse Restaurant is housed in a Civil War era building circa 1863. It was a two room schoolhouse with one room now used as the kitchen and the other classroom is now a dining room. The windows, the yellow oak floors, and blackboards are from the late 1800's. Large round tables with built in lazy susans can seat up to 8 people.
No visit to The Schoolhouse is complete without stopping in at The General Store. The store is located in the old pole barn which was the original horse barn. It now gives visitors a place to visit while eating at the restaurant or a stop while traveling on the Little Miami Scenic Trail. It is stocked with antiques, collectibles, unique gifts, candy and knick knacks you won't find anywhere else.
The second floor of The Schoolhouse was the Auditorium of the school and the Principal's office. Now it is used for special events, business meetings or holiday functions. This room has a fully functional stage and is acoustically amazing for bands, DJ's, theatrical productions.
The original yellow oak hardwood floors and soaring windows make for a great venue which can be customized for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, birthday party, corporate events, holiday parties, or large group gatherings.Tented or open air lawn events can be created for a special touch for weddings and events.

Haven't been here for years but finally had the opportunity tonight .. it's just like I remember it. The owners were there, same folks as when I was a teenager. The food was great .. I had fried liver and onions, some of the kids had country fried steak and some had chicken tortellini Alfredo. Didn't hear any complaints.
Definitely worth a visit for some old fashioned, home cooked comfort food. Looking forward to going back.

Locally owned and run with care. The outside area is great. Come visit the goats! We really enjoy the mason jar drinks. The sides and salads are served family style but you pick your own meal. The sides are so good, they can be a meal themselves. Fried chicken is the house specialty but don't sleep on the fish or roast beef. This classic school building is a favorite right off the bike trail in Camp D.

Only dinning room is air conditioned. This meal is considered family style, so green beans, corn, mashed potatos, slaw and salad are served. Menu is written on the blackboard and might be hard to read from a distance. Positives: tables have a tripod center post, so no wobble. Table has a second level which makes sharing easy.

What a darling place and wonderful service! If you leave hungry then you did something wrong! Get the sides for the $8 (comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread, corn and the veggie of the day-whew). And it the sides keep coming until you say mercy. The food is simple but don’t take that for cheap, it’s top notch! I love that you can take all of the leftovers home too!
They have an outdoor area that has been added. Don’t worry it’s covered too! There’s even a perfect fireplace inside the pergola. It’s great for any events and even your family to enjoy.
Would I come back, YES and

This place is always great! The food is good home cooking style. They serve family style. While you wait for your freshly cooked meal, you can look around the old one room classroom and see history.
We can't go there without having an order of corn fritters. They come to the table fresh and hot. They are so good with the butter. Yummy! Today I had the red snapper. It was so good!
This place isn't just a meal, it's an experience.
