My grandfather, Henry Minor, initiated the watchmaking fascination that would shape the lives of future generations in the Minor family. He worked on watches at night and on rainy days, stirring the interest of his sons. Each son had his own box of watches like boys today have Matchbox cars. Grandpa opened his first watch repair shop in Alabama during the 1930's.

Came here on a whim for a second opinion on a ring I had made. The staff was very attentive and super helpful. I feel lucky to have found this jewelry shop. I had a necklace with a broken latch and did not want to drive into it park at the mall. The staff at Minor Jewelry were caring and professional as soon as I walked in the door. I appreciate the ability to text and that’s how I was notified when the necklace was ready and when I could pick it up. This shop has “old values” and I believe I have found my place for all things jewelry. Thank you!!

Do not go here to get anything fixed if you want it anywhere close to what it was. I took a necklace so the chain could be fixed and they replaced the sterling silver chain with some cheap ugly chain. I still had to pay and they refused to correct their mistake.

Minor Jewelry did an amazing job on my wedding and engagement ring. I needed my wedding band resized and both my engagement ring and wedding band redipped as they are white gold and I am amazed with the results! My 10 year old rings look brand new and I am so happy with the job Minor Jewelry did. They answered all of my questions and triple checked to make sure the sizing was exactly what I needed. I cannot believe recommend them enough. They now have a customer for life.

I've taken several of my jewelry pieces to Minor Jewelry to have them altered or repaired. They work with all kinds of metals which many high end jewelry stores do not. They have adjusted a necklace of mine, adding an extra loop on the back so I can adjust the length and they've also welded the closure of my hoop earrings to make them secure. They even added an extra piece to secure the closure of my earrings at no extra cost. Their prices are extremely reasonable, adjustments and repairs are done in a timely manner and they are very kind.

Price was more than reasonable and service was very fast. They were actually able to fix it while I waited and even polished the full piece free of charge! I will most definitely be a returning customer :)

Minor thought they were God's gift to humanity seven years ago before 12 South was as popular as it is now. I was a fool to think their attitude had improved in that time.
I was quoted $40 across town to resize my ring- sterling silver, not gold. They quoted me $150. There's always been a nice lady at the counter, but the dude who owns it...he's insanely rude. When the woman was on vacation years ago, he looked at my watch, saying he couldn't fix low-grade leather and though they buy jewelry, he dismissed my silver amethyst bracelet as "costume jewelry." They think

I recently had an emergency - I couldn't get my rings off of swollen fingers, and pulling on them made the swelling worse. I was in pain and worried about my finger! I was about to go to the ER, but called Minor Jewelry on a whim to see if they could help. They told me to come right in and they removed my rings. I tried to pay them and they wouldn't accept anything for the assist. I wish I could use them to resize and repair my rings, but I live out of town. Highly recommend this place! They are good people!

Ring the bell to get in and you'll be warped right out of hipster 12south. I stopped in to get a quote on resizing a ring and also to get the important finger sized - you know for future needs :-P
The gentlemen were very nice and helpful and gave me two options for my ring. It was easy peasy and it's in the neighborhood. I would recommend them for your jewelry needs. I have a friend who had them replace a diamond in her antique ring and they did a wonderful job!

Within 24 hours of having my ring, I found a crack in the stone. After freaking out, I calmed down and went to Minor. They looked at the stone and saw it was obviously cracked from underneath (which I could not have scratched it from there) and then promptly offered to replace the stone for free. What a load off my mind! Great customer service!
