Tim opened for business in 1982 after converting a small bread warehouse into a two-bay shop. He focused mainly on engine performance and transmission repair. As demand grew, employees and space were added. The size of the shop was enlarged and Tim's became a full service general repair shop with a specialty of rebuilding transmissions and other driveline components.
We offer complete transmission repair and service for foreign and domestic vehicles, light trucks, SUVs and RVs. We have our own in-house transmission, transfer case and differential rebuilding facility. We are heavy duty and towing transmission rebuild specialists. With all our transmission repair, we offer a free nationwide 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty with extended warranties available on rebuilt transmissions.

We had a transmission rebuilt in a pickup. Less than a year later and only 3500 miles we had trouble with it. It had 1 year warranty on it. Took it back and said they would warranty it but it ended up still costing me around $500. I did not feel that it should be my responsibility for the bill because it was under warranty. I would hesitate to bring a transmission there again.

I can't really speak for the mechanics, but the front desk service is terrible. I made an appointment for a transmission inspection and fluid/filter change 3 weeks in advance. When I came in on my appointment day (Monday, May 24), the lady at the front desk acted like she was not expecting me at all and I had to give her all my information again. I asked if I could add an oil change to the service and she said that would be fine. No big deal, right? This would take 10-20 minutes at some locations.

While traveling from Austin, TX to Creede, CO, I noticed increasing anti-freeze leakage from my Ford F-150.
When going through Alamosa, I looked up
Tim's transmissions.
They readily diagnosed the problem as a bad water pump.
Within a few hours, my problem was resolved at a reasonable cost.
And...they had me back on the road in short order.
Kudos to Sarah and Drew for their professionalism and pleasant demeanor.
For anyone near Alamosa, I highly recommend Tim's Transmission & Auto Repair.
