Tom Seguin is an independent appraiser of fine jewelry serving the Tampa Bay area from his office in Bradenton, Florida. Mr. Seguin began his career in the jewelry industry as co-owner of Pure Excellence Fine Jewelry, a custom jewelry design jewelry studio in Sarasota, Florida in 1984.
He earned his Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma from the Gemological Institute of America in 1986 and earned his Master Gemologist Appraiser designation from the American Society of Appraisers in 1987.Mr. Seguin owns and operates Suncoast Gem Laboratories, which is the only state-of-the art Certified Gemological Laboratory of the Accredited Gemologists Association on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

This man is rude. Their customer service is atrocious, and he comes off as very very greedy.
I called to make an appointment to utilize their gemology service. I wear and buy a lot of jewelry which is all insured by Jewelers Mutual. Jeweler’s mutual is who referred me to Suncoast Gems. I was looking to establish a relationship with an appraiser, and gemologist. Their website looked reputable, and they offered the services I was looking for. I called with my latest acquisition, a mothers ring a friend had given me. I suspected that 2 of the stones were alexandrite, and wanted to get a professional

**Review of Appraisal Service** I do NOT recommend. I recently had a custom ring made from a collaboration of 2 other jewelers. I had 3 independent appraisals done to be able to choose the best for insurance. Suncoast, being the last of the appraisers, came in at 36% and 38% lower than the other two and was lower than my actual cost. Also consider that I was fortunate enough to buy several of my gems at wholesale. The last thing said to me was "I am sorry you did not come to me to make that ring." Tom and Donna are friendly and very professional. They came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. Had to have a small stone replaced in my engagement ring. The replacement stone is beautiful and the repair work excellent. Also had another ring cleaned up and repaired. Looks brand new. Prices were quite reasonable.

I stopped by to get a ring sized. The store is inside a building with other stores. There is a reception desk. That's as far as I got. I was asked who I was here to see. Suncoast gems I stated. Well they are only seeing people by appt right now. Oh okay!
