We offer karate classes for kids ages 3 and up, kickboxing classes for teens and up, women's self-defense classes, birthday parties, and nerf battles. We are also proud members of the Colorado Karate Association (CKA). Once our students reach Black Belt Club level, they have the opportunity to compete in multiple tournaments throughout the year.

Services
We opened our doors in 2014 with a mission to bring the wonderful life skill of self-protection to children and adults alike in the Windsor area. Shihan Matt Schildt, the owner of Kaizen Karate & Self-Defense, has been a martial artist for 23 years.
Before opening Kaizen Karate & Self-Defense in 2014, Schildt trained in karate and Tae Kwon Do from 1984-91, then resumed his karate training in 2005 under Master Charles Orchard at Total Ryu Martial Arts.

Our competition team is a group of exceptional karate students who take it to the next level by competing in tournaments throughout Colorado with the Colorado Karate Association (CKA). All of these students have won or placed Top 3 in a CKA tournament, and many have won CKA State Championships or finished as a CKA State Finalist (finishing 2nd or 3rd) in their respective divisions.
Our Small Samurai Class, for children ages 3-5 years old, will introduce your child to karate basics, drills to work on agility and fine motor skills, obstacle courses and races. It's also a great way for your child to get started in karate, socialize with other children their age, and get a bunch of exercise!
Karate has so many benefits for children, including improving their self-confidence, discipline and focus. Our Kids Karate program teaches traditional Japanese Karate, anti-bullying and self-defense. This includes verbal self-defense skills, eye contact and assertive behavior to protect themselves from bullying.
Our Adult Karate and Self-Defense class blends the fantastic benefits of traditional Japanese karate - including cardiovascular health, coordination, agility, and fine motor skills - with the practical self-defense skills needed for the street. We offer our adult karate classes, for age 13 and up, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 6 - 7 pm.

Thank you Kaizen team for making me feel more confident and powerful as a young woman who is usually out alone. I just completed my first series of private self defense classes. I never learned how to defend myself or hit anything growing up. Now I feel confident in what to do and how to move if someone tried to attack me. Plus you make some great friends along the way. I will definitely be returning for reviewing classes and maybe even karate!

Sansei Matt is an amazing instructor! He has so much patience with the kids and has really taught my child a lot throughout the year we have been there. He is extremely accommodating and has lots of different class times for the parents with different schedules. I appreciate him (and sempei Jack) for all the time and effort they have put in with my child. HIGHLY recommend this dojo for a place of karate, for beginners and those who have done karate before.

I have taken Matt's self defense class and have also been part of his kick boxing classes. If you are looking for someone to teach you self defense, self confidence, and self control, he's your guy! Any skill level, any experience , he treats you with the same level of professionalism. I have learned so much from him and he delivers an insane workout, every time. It's a fun and inviting place while also teaching you the skills you want to learn. I won't ever go anywhere else!!

Kaizen Karate is wonderful! My kiddo is pretty shy and going to karate twice a week has been so great for him. He is learning self-defense, discipline, and leadership. He is definitely more confident since starting. Sensei Matt and the whole team at Kaizen Karate are true leaders and care about every kid who walks in the door.

Kaizen Karate is AMAZING! From the first day we felt welcomed and a part of the karate family. Sensei Matt is not only a great instructor but he also makes sure to teach honor, respect & integrity. Matt is not only the nicest guy, but he is also for women's empowerment. I took his self defense class and it changed my life. He makes everyone feel comfortable and supported. He is great with kids too. My kiddo took his little samurai class and had a blast. I highly recommend Kaizen Karate & Self Defense.

I REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM!! Sensei Matt has an awesome team of instructors. I've taken several of his Women's self defense classes and he is always adding new techniques to reflect what is happening in today's world. His anti-bullying component is crucial in today's society. Myself and Members of my family have used his techniques. THEY ACTUALLY WORK! YOU need his classes! Your children will be able to handle confrontational situations with confidence!!

I've done a couple of private self-defense lessons with Matt, the owner, and I learned a bunch! My wife also took his women's self-defense class and loved it. Before I booked those private lessons with him I stopped by and watched a couple of classes (the kids and adults) to check it out and was really impressed. Great family atmosphere, and the focus on self-defense is great. If I had kids I'd put them in class.
