Gary did an amazing job restoring the original red oak hardwood that is in our 1960's home. The hardwood had been covered for years by carpet, and had major damage (pet urine, water damage from leaking roof lines and water damage from underneath) in many of the rooms from the previous owners/tenants. Gary had the best reputation and best price out of all the bids for the work. Highly recommend Jones Floor Designs.

I highly recommend Gary with Jones Floor Designs. My house is 63 years old and I bought it 10 years ago not knowing there was hardwood under the carpet. When it was time for the carpet to go I found original hardwood underneath (at least I think it is original) and it was in bad shape. I contacted Gary to evaluate the floor and give me an estimate. From the start Gary was responsive and on time. He started the job sooner than we originally agreed on and he was on time every day. My floors turned out beautiful. Gary did an amazing job on our hardwood floors! We recently bought a older home in WC with 1970's linoleum in the kitchen. We wanted to match the old oak wood floors that buddied up to the kitchen. The challenge being that the floors are older oak and variegated in size.
Spoke to many people who wanted to put in engineered hardwood or could partially match, but Gary gave me confidence that he could get same wood, size, then sand and stain to match.
He tore them out and perfectly matched the old oak hardwood floors. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference. See attached pictures

Gary is the ultimate of what a professional is and a person that truly takes pride is his work. he sanded and restained 2 rooms and 2 hallways. What a difference, after he was done, he said they hadn't been done probably in 20 years.
Gary is the man, go anywhere else your just not going to get the best bang for the buck.

Our soft cherry floors were long past due for refinishing with pitting, high heel divots and well worn areas. Gary Jones was spoken of highly on the Nextdoor app, and his work and commitment to a quality finished product was notable. 1. Refinishing hardwood floor with multiple layers of staining and sealing worked out perfectly. The floor looked brand new.
2. Pay attention to details in repairing damaged wood and adding painted trim to the wallboard to fill in gaps.
3. Smooth the border between the hardwood and vinyle very well
4. Completed the job exactly when we needed the job completed.

I called Jones Floor Designs for an estimate to repair our water damaged hardwood floors. If first impressions mean anything, Gary offered to come out to Orinda on a Sunday morning to take a look and give us an estimate. On time and no excuses, I liked Gary from the start.
The estimate was fair and we signed with him to start work that week. We were having company over that weekend so we asked for a no work day on Friday and he accommodated our request without objection, finishing up the following week.

We are thrilled with the refinishing results of our decades old red oak floors. When I first saw them I thought Gary had replaced them instead of refinishing them! He also replaced the wood in one room and it is gorgeous. He and his assistant were prompt, organized and cleaned up everything perfectly. I highly recommend them. One tip, on the first day of staining particularly, keep all your windows wide open (oil based). The next two water based stains are not nearly as noxious.

I spoke to Gary about having baseboards installed at my house and he quickly gave me a quote. I asked if he would apply a military discount for being a Vet and he said he couldn't because the price he gave was as low as he could go, which I understood.
