The Pollard's Chicken legacy started in February of 1967 when my father, Clyde W. Pollard, my brother Robert and I opened "Pollard's Chicken Ranch" in Norfolk, VA. Two years later, we dropped the "Ranch" from our name and became what you know us as - Pollard's Chicken! Our business has always been family-oriented; my sisters Peggy and Elizabeth began helping out as soon as they were old enough to work.
My sister Betty Ann Gravely and I now own the business, overseeing nine locations in Hampton Roads. Pollard's Catering was actually started in Elizabeth C. Pollard's kitchen in 1953 (then called Betty Pollard's Catering). My mother was dedicated to serving those around her quality food, and we have incorporated what started in our home to our business, offering full-service catering for events, luncheons, BBQ's, corporate outings, and more.

This Pollard's Chicken is located at the corner of Great Neck Rd. and Virginia Beach Blvd. It is easiest to get to it from heading west on Virginia Beach Blvd. or south on Great Neck Rd. I have passed this place several times over the years but had never made it in here until then. My first visit here was around midday on December 31, 2021.
There was parking available when I came in. However, there was quite a bit of traffic as there is a Starbucks pretty much next to this place and they were extremely busy that day. It can make it difficult at times when it is so busy there at the Starbucks.

Normally I don't complain, but being at the London Bridge location in December I ordered the 12 peice chicken.
It was amazing!!
I referred many friends to this place.
The chicken was freshly fried and was damn sure some of the best chicken I've ever had.
Fast forward to Januarythe experience was a total turn around.
I'm sure it was old chicken that had been laying around for some time,(I received it way to quickly)
It was nowhere up to par from the experience the first time.
I was highly disappointed. If i wanted old dry chicken with no crisp ,I would've went to KFC.

We have been loyal customers at the Pollard's Chicken at the London Bridge Location. We usually order online and the order is accurate. Last night we placed our usual order for pick up. However, when we returned home we noticed the order was incorrect. We called and spoke with the staff and manager to see if we could correct the order. They said "no". The order would not be corrected. We asked if we could have a refund. They stated "no refund". We explained that what we ordered online was not what we received. They stated this was a "known issue". They stated the online orders did not always reflect

Excellent place to get your chicken compared to your big chain competitors. The chicken is the perfect combination of crunch, juicy and seasoned (not salty) compared to other places. Their sides are also tasty and sizeable. The staff are polite and professional. They are following Covid guidelines. Recommended.

So to better take care of your employees you reduce their hours? How does that make sense, raise there wages to a living wage to better take care of your employees and you might even get people to apply. I hate the vibe that places with all black staff and the only white person working is the manager gives. Even worse with the fake virtue signaling signs on the windows.

Food was great but their catering service/prep was a hot mess for the cashier working at the time. She complained the whole time she was trying to get my order ready about how she hated catering services and so on. Put a bitter taste in my mouth about ordering from them even though I love the food and don't get it often since I live put of the state now. The only mess up was I paid for 25 buffalo bites and 25 bbq bites and they gave me 100 buffalo. Not going to complain as they were the big hit.

We waited about 20 minutes or so for our meal. Chicken was good and hot, mashed potatoes and gravy were good too. Coleslaw was ok not great. We were told that they thought we were taking it to go but the cashier never asked. We were eating there. The young lady said we close the inside at 6:30 it was 6:27. We ate as quickly as we could and left.

I could give Pollard's Chicken hundreds of reviews - all good. They are just a good part of growing up in the Tidewater area. Today my sweet mom treated me to the two piece dark meat meal with sweet potato fries and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was moist and the skin was so crispy and tasty. I dipped my fries in honey - yummy! Macaroni and cheese was generically good - you know it's not made from scratch but like it anyway. Mom had the fried livers with green beans and it hit the spot - totally satisfied her craving. Our puffs didn't disappoint. We were very happy with our meals

Good food, rude service. The older lady running this was hollering at the employees. She got mad at my husband because he told her he wanted his gizzards good and crispy. She smarted off to my teenage son who was trying to read the menu. There was no one behind us.She is rude very rude.We used to go there all the time but she turns my stomach. When you just want to cuss put the cook then you need to go elsewhere. As long as she is there we won't be back.100's of places to eat around here.

As Witchduck Rd store closed, I decided to drive to the College Park Pollards for pick-up. My order was waiting for me when I arrived. However the chicken was dry and the onion rings had a very strong taste of old cooking oil. . It was by far the worst fried chicken I have ever had at Pollards, and I have been a customer from the time they opened on Little Creek Rd in the 70's. I doubt I will return again.

Ugh. How could my tastebuds have changed THAT much!?! I remember years ago stopping in and getting Puffs & Honey when I was in the area.
This is an old fast food joint that needs more than a fresh coat of paint. The interior, while not littered with trash or clutter, doesn't have the feeling of clean or fresh, but then again, most of their fare is fried so maybe you should expect that. I don't know. I rarely eat fried foods.
As I waited for my food, there was a clear view of the cook and all the fryers in the kitchen. I watched him pop open a can of biscuits and toss them in hot

Earlier this month while in Norfolk, we decided to Head over to Newport New to visit my Cuz and her daughter and agreed to bring lunch rather than calling in an order from their house. Chicken was a hit. We got two boxes of chicken and two boxes of sides. It was more than enough for the four of us with four or five pieces left over, i.e. tomorrow's lunch. Thank goodness there was little tunnel traffic and we arrived with hot chicken and sides. The hot chicken is the best part about Pollard's. The chicken is not cooked until it is ordered. The sides are well above average. COVID 19

Our company ordered Pollards' boxed lunches for our employees and we were extremely impressed with our entire experience. It was very simple to order online, with several options to choose from (we narrowed it down to three). Once we ordered, we were sent a confirmation email and itemized list of everything we selected. The driver arrived to our building early and the delivery process was flawless. The individual boxes were labeled, which made it super easy for employees to identify their meal. The boxes even had a tamper evident seal on them. Not to mention the actual food was awesome too! From

After living in Hampton Roads for about 3 years, I finally had a chance to try Pollards chicken. I went with a 3 piece meal and they gave me all dark chicken, I guess they're a little bit short on white.
I'm very glad that they had cinnamon apples as an option, way too few places have apples. I also got mashed potatoes and while they were very hearty and creamy, they were a little bit too heavy on the gravy for my liking. I ordered a large tea to drink and I asked for half sweet/half unsweet. Unfortunately the tea I got was completely unsweet. After a few minutes, the staff fixed that

While the chicken is great it isnt with putting up with all the rudeness and attitude!
There are 5 people working... while yelling cursing! There are going children and the F bomb is flowing!
When the young lady at the counter took my money she chomped on her gum never one looking at or even towards me..gave me a my receipt and walked away... never saying a word. After a minute or two I was about to get her attention from the other employee they were arguing over what type of car someone was driving... she finally begrudgingly walked in the kitchen and asked about my order...
No I called in

Good fried chicken is one of my favorite splurges. I have been in this area for 29 years and Pollards has been consistent in making great fried chicken. I have read through the reviews - some hits and misses but I have never had a miss with the chicken, maybe I've been lucky! I recently tried their NC style BBQ and it was good, although too finely chopped for my texture preferences. However, it was good enough to order again. I also recently tried the gizzards with onions in gravy over rice - delicious and the portion is large enough to share! Green beans are perfectly seasoned and the corn

This was delivered in my office today as a token of appreciation for hard work. I love those biscuits with the honey drizzle..yummmmm..no complaints from me when its free food. It's seriously a good southern style lunch/dinner spot that I've eaten at before. My Mac and cheese needed salt and pepper which I didn't have so I knocked a star down for that. Otherwise good meal deal worth checking out.

Best fried chicken in town! The breast sandwich is still my favorite. Consistent, dependable, always delicious with great service and puffs, puffs, puffs!
I no longer live in the area but whenever I return home, Pollards is on my list to visit.
I just visited Hampton Roads a couple of weeks ago and once again, Pollards did not disappoint! I do not even waste my time hoping that the competitors have chicken cooked or have decent sized pieces of chicken. I pass right by them on my way to Pollards every time.

This review is solely for the rotisserie chicken breast/wing meal. I eat chicken often and this is with out a doubt the worst rotisserie chicken meal ever. It was so small it was comedic! The chicken was also dry.
The sweet potato had little to no taste.
We called to complain and the manager claimed "the chicken was cooked in the morning and we should have got an additional piece if it was that small."
He also implied, they had a new person and he apologized. Sounds like poor training and even more POOR quality!!
My favorite chicken wing place in Norfolk pays extra money to get better

This is a place that makes me wish we could divide our ratings. One for service and one for food.
The service was a five star easily. They are friendly, funny, and makes you feel welcome like family.
The food was 3.5 stars. The fried chicken is very good. I had the chicken BBQ, it was average but not bad.
I enjoyed the sides. The green beans and spiced apples were terrific and the hush puppies were among the best I've had in the area.
I also had one of the puffs that Pollards is famous for, I'm not sure what everyone loves about them. They are soft and warm but they are just a warm

When I think of fried chicken there's only one place that comes to mind, Pollards. This is one of the older locations and it's been here in Norfolk since I was a child. The building they're in now was a BK years ago, the original location was about a half mile up the road.
We walked in and ordered a 16 piece deal w/ a Groupon. That also included 4 sides and a bunch of puff's. The thing that I've always really appreciated about Pollards is they make the meal when you order it. The wait was about 20 minutes, but so worth it when we arrived home and opened everything up
