Charles E. Troxell founded the funeral home in Glasgow, Pennsylvania in 1890. It was located opposite the old cemetery and next to the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Charles E. Troxell was in the General Store and Mercantile business. In 1895 his brother Christopher Jay Troxell became interested in the business and went to the United States Embalming College in Chicago, Illinois.
C. Jay Troxell took over the entire operation when his brother was elected Prothonatary of Cambria County. A son, Russell L. Troxell, joined the firm in 1956 and in the later years, after the death of his father C. Jay Troxell, the name of the funeral home became the Russell L. Troxell Funeral Home.
