Our passion is for people-not only to serve in a funeral service capacity, but also to come along side families in need for the years to follow.
Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., has been serving families in central Pennsylvania for over 100 years. Our roots go deep within the community of Altoona and surrounding areas, and they continue to grow as we are in the fourth generation of service. The business was opened in a three-story building that housed a floral shop on the first floor, offices and a casket selection room on the second floor, and a large meeting room on third floor.
We will assist your family in planning a funeral and choosing the options that suit your families needs and your loved ones wishes. We are able to assist you in holding services in a wide variety of areas. From our chapel, to your church or at the cemetery we are able to prepare a meaningful service to honor your loved one.
As our simplest cremation offering, the basic direct cremation plan is just that basic. It allows a family to arrange legal disposition of a loved one without incurring expenses for unwanted services. This plan does not include visitations, rites, ceremonies, obituaries, etc., as do traditional services.
Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., certainly realizes, not every family nor individual has the resources to pay 100% or the bulk of funeral expenses upfront. This, however, should not prevent loving survivors from providing the funeral or memorial that the deceased deserves and the heart commands.

I have been here for a few funeral services. I can honestly say the people are truly genuine. The way they handle everything from start to finish is very professional and courteous. I will uae their services for my family more in the future. Thank you to all who made our coming their be an experience that was so helpful and kind.

I wouldn't even give on star if I didn't have to. Kelly Jo Walter is very inpersonable and rude. She has no sympathy for families who have lost their loved ones. She lies and then refuses to do her job in a professional way. Or she says shee's going to do one thing and the back pedals and does the opposite. She yells at grieving mothers and hangs up on family members. In my opinion,she shouldn't be in this type of work.
