Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive group of treatment and diagnostic modalities dating back over 2,000 years ago. It is widely practiced in the United States and around the world, and is generally accepted as a safe and effective treatment alternative and complement to Western medical therapies.
If you have a PPO health insurance plan, chances are likely that Acupuncture is a covered benefit! Kim is also an in-network provider with TriWest VA and select Blue Shield PPO Insurance. Benefit checks should be returned within 4 business days. Health Savings Accounts (HSA / FSA) can also be used to cover the cost of acupuncture treatments.
Dr. Kim's healing practice harnesses the healing energies of more than just text book Chinese Medicine and simple acupuncture point prescriptions. All the great masters will tell you that acupuncture is an energetic medicine, our vital life force - Qi - is an energy that can't be measured with medical or electronic devices, but is felt through the patient and practitioner.
For those clients with little or no insurance coverage the following rates apply and require payment at time of service. These rates are not reflective of rates for insurance cases. Currently we are not accepting sliding scale patients and are suggesting to receive treatment with Dr. Kim's interns at AIMC Berkeley Mondays and Wednesdays.

Kim is an incredible acupuncturist--she has a deep sensitivity and understanding of the medicine that is hard to come by. She has always given me effective, restorative, and rejuvenating treatments with professionalism and honesty. I can't recommend her enough--if you're her patient, you're in excellent hands.
Also, I don't know what's up with that one star review, but that person clearly has no understanding of insurance billing. Kim is ethical and above board in every respect, including her billing practices.

Kim is a masterful acupuncturist! Her presence was incredibly warm and calming, and she reassured me by answering all of my acupuncture questions before, during, and after. It was my first time getting acupuncture, and I am a bit nervous around needles but ended up loving every second of it - I even fell asleep. She completely relieved my very painful neck tension which lasted for days after the treatment. Her San Rafael offices were clean, modern and peaceful. I will definitely be back for more!

Kim is a great practitioner. She listens to your needs, has a gentle touch, kind and warm demeanor, and great sense of humor. She's been my acupuncturist for years, dealing with old ice hockey injuries. I always come away feeling lighter than when I walked through the door. I highly recommend her! I have been seeing Kim for about 3 years for various treatments. My initial interaction with Kim was for microblading, I had very sparse eyebrows and was tired and embarrassed going out in public with my "natural" brows. I had such a perfect experience getting my ombré eyebrows cosmetic tattooing from Kim. Her practice space is clean, warm and inviting, and there's easy complimentary parking for her clients. The walls are adorned with art and the many certificates & awards that Kim has received, she is clearly well educated and revered for her work.

Kim totally rocked the microblading on my eyebrows. She turned my scarce Asian uneven brows into sexy and bold brows while still somehow keeping it natural looking. You could hardly tell it's a tattoo! I've gotten so many compliments on them, and I was impressed at how she took the time to meticulously draw them in multiple times to get it perfect before doing the blading. I highly recommend it and her services!

The steps were straight forward and results amazing! I found the hardest part was waiting 7-10days after to heal up since you cannot get water or anything on your brows. Words can not even describe how happy I am with the service I received from Kim at Lions Heart! She is thorough, informative, clean and a perfectionist. I am someone who has to fill in my eyebrows every single day due to sparse hair and patches missing. Another thing that bothers me is my eyebrows are a light blonde brown color but my hair is red. I'm a natural blonde and dye my hair black. Having to draw on eyebrows every morning was a pain and they never matched. If I wanted to go without makeup for a day, I still had to eyebrow myself or I just looked weird. Kimba was wonderful and really took her time getting the right shape for my face. What can I say besides KIM IS FANTASTIC!!! She took my eyebrows from typical blonde "meaning the more sun I get the more they disappear" to the most perfectly symmetrical set ever. I couldn't have drawn them better! Kim is so patient in working with you to get them exactly how you want. She is wonderfully professional and efficient! If I could rate her higher I would. Just had an excellent first session with Kim for neck and shoulder pain as well as a stuffy nose. I walked out deeply relaxed, with increased range of motion in my neck and significantly reduced congestion. Kim has a lovely, calm demeanor that puts you at ease, and her office is very cozy and inviting. Highly recommend.

I've experienced chronic hip pain since a car accident in April 2012. After seeing a chiropractor and physical therapist I decided to give acupuncture a try.
