Does the human body run better on fat or sugar? This question is probably too simple since there are many factors involved in how the body processes fuel. For instance, personal preference, individual health goals and activity levels may play a role. However, for the purposes of this blog, I just want to outline some basic principles and talk about fat burning vs. sugar burning.
Back pain can range from a minor annoyance to debilitating pain that can last for weeks. After 12 years of practice and treating thousands of patients, I can safely say that back pain is one of the number one things that I see in the clinic. While low back pain is the most common, many people also experience mid and upper-back pain.
Functional Medicine is a revolutionary approach to healthcare that dives deep into the root causes of chronic illness. Functional Medicine uses a scientific and systematic approach to identifying physiologic imbalances and dysfunction in the body and asks not only what, but why? Why does someone have high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic reflux or eczema?
Tui Na is a hands-on ancient massage therapy technique that involves brushing, kneading, pulling, pushing as well as a variety of acupressure techniques. It also involves some stretching and joint mobilization. Tui Na uses ancient Chinese Medicine principles and techniques to bring the body back into balance.
A personalized nutrition approach is based on an individual's specific health needs, their preventative health goals, personal values, genetics, as well as social and family life. We take into consideration the full constellation of a person's life and come up with an optimal plan to meet those goals.

I've been working with Amy for over two years now. What started as acupuncture and cupping has turned into so much more as Amy has grown her knowledge, experience and healing capabilities. Recently, Amy shared with me the concept of intermittent fasting (which is limiting your meals to an 8 hour window each day). I'd never thought this was a lifestyle that could work for me or my body, but I trust Amy completely so I gave it a try. And the result of my experiment is that I've lost 25 pounds, with what I truly feel has been minimal effort! It was a small, easy shift in eating + maintaining a regular

I starting seeing Amy over 3 years ago and she has literally changed my life. Her expertise with creating an individual diet, suggesting supplements, and giving Acupunture/massage treatments made a significant improvement on my health during a time that I felt completely defeated and overwhelmed . I have seen integrative practitioners for over 20 years for chronic health issues and have never worked with someone who is so attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly so committed to healing people. She thinks outside the box and digs deep to figure out the root of ones health challenges. While working

I came to see Amy for back pain after I had an accident at work. I had an large object fall on my mid back from 15 feet above me and landed in the ER. Amy treated me the day after my accident and the acupuncture treatment helped reduce my pain dramatically. I also came back for several more treatments and I believe this helped me get back to work much sooner. I am very grateful and now I see Amy periodically for tune-ups and she helps keep my back healthy and pain-free!
