The System taught to the Samurai for unarmed fighting to defeat both armed and unarmed opponents.

Fishhawk Martial Arts Academy (FHMAA) is operated in the beautiful setting of Lithia Florida and services the Lithia/Pinecrest, Riverview, Valrico, Tampa, and Ruskin areas. Centrally located, this martial arts academy is a premier choice for busy families in search of martial arts, self-defense, personal wellness and quality after school training that focuses on traditional martial arts with an everyday application.
The handling of weapons (sword, Jo, Sai) in any capacity is potentially dangerous. The training period for Aiki jujutsu is also safety rule bound. Therefore, for the general safety and well being of the participants, certain rules must be in effect at all times during training class. It is the direct responsibility of every student to know and abide by these rules.
A: Yes if you are participating in our training or camp programs, please download and fill out the following waiver. If you are joining our Tai Chi program or attending a birthday party, please download and fill out this waiver. Kyu rating for Japanese Sword System of Mushin no Shin is a separate Kyu rating from the Aikijujutsu practitioner program.
I am a firm believer in supporting local businesses; being a local business owner myself. I needed an after-school program for my daughter and a few people had mentioned looking into Fishhawk Martial Arts Academy. I was a little skeptical at first - this is my little girl after all. Well we gave it a shot and it has been the greatest decision we ever made.
Fishhawk Martial Arts Academy is unique in that we believe in and adhere to strict Japanese traditions. The Japanese sword has remained a constant in Samurai culture for hundreds of years. Students in Aikijujutsu who have shown proficiency and dedication will be invited to join our Saturday morning sword class.

This dojo is fantastic! It teaches aiki-juijutsu. Like many martial arts, it focuses on pillars of characteristics, such as honesty, honor, loyalty, and etcetera. The focus is on a defensive demeanor rather than offensive one, but emplors moves that can lead to debilitating an aggressor.
I attended a graduation assessment. A student was attempting to move up from yellow belt to green belt. The progression of belts is white, yellow, green... black. She had to demonstrate the typical moves to demonstrate knowledge of the art; punches, throws, kicks, rolls, etc.

Fishhawk Martial Arts Academy is a great environment for kids to learn martial arts. Our boys have been attending for about 2 years. In that time not only have we seen them learn martial arts, but we have seen how the lessons and art has transferred over to their school work and home life. Our boys have improved self confidence and discipline and pride in what they do. The Senseis are top notch.

The instructors don't just teach the ways of Aiki-Jujutsu, they instill a sense of belonging and brotherhood, while at the same time making everything they do interesting, pleasant and challenging for the students. My family has been at FHMAA for 2 years now and it has become an integral part of our lives. For those parents concerned about bullying the school does a phenomenal job guiding your children to higher levels of self-esteem and confidence making it less likely for them to be bullied. Secondly, they have a tenacious focus on the pragmatics of self-defense. When all alternatives are exhausted your child will have gained the tools and knowledge to defend themselves. Also, FHMAA puts your children on a path towards learning & respecting an art that will benefit them throughout their lives. For children
