Arturo's Mexican Restaurant

100% honest, it's good. It's along the lines of "American" Mexican food, and one of the better ones around here. If you are looking for the "authentic" stuff, go elsewhere. Otherwise, you won't be disappointed.

Brought Mom here for a birthday lunch. We were going to be seated in a table in the back corner next to a larger table of eight including kids. We ask for a different table and, it seemed kind of reluctantly, we were given a table in the middle of the restaurant. We are two identical lunches, although one was chicken with beings and the other with steak with rice, 2 beers and a glass of water.. very little ice. We do not eat out often but in the last 2-3 years we have dined/in and picked up. The food and service has been consistently good, which says a lot! I can always count on a good meal. Ingredients and recipes have been consistent.

Food is always great. Never order margaritas frozen you'll get jipped on tequila. Only restaurant in town that charges you for water with your alcoholic drinks 🤷

It's wasn't the best. Fast and friendly service. Chips and salsa/cheese dip was good, but food was just mediocre. Don't get the red sauce, tastes like it's straight from a can. Probably won't be back.

The mini Alambre and Taco Salad are two of our favorites at Arturo's. We've been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. Good service, good staff and good food.

My husband and I went Saturday, November 20th. There was only one server and she was running as fast as she could and took care of everyone of the tables. It was awesome service considering the amount of people she was taking care of. I didn't get her name, wish I had. The food, as always, was so good. The nachos al mar is exceptional to me as are the chimichangas. We will definitely be back.

As soon as we walked in we were seated and handed menus right away. The waiter was very present and quickly got our drinks an gave appetizers. Seems like as soon as he took our orders they were coming out of kitchen. Food was very delicious and the price was very good for the large portions they give. Very clean and friendly atmosphere. I wasn't sure of this place because I am not usually one for Mexican but this place is a must try.

Be prepared to be charged for water. Also, the customer service is lacking. When we went to pay, the lady was on the phone taking an order so I understood partially but I don't think she said one word to us. Not even to tell us thank you or to have a good night.

Great place. We found Arturo's about 5 years ago and have been dining there regularly. Having worked with the Mexican migrant community for years,II've been lucky enough to have the best. Arturo's food is authentic and consistently good. Have tried a dozen or so meals and each one was delicious and hot when it arrived. The servers are friendly and attentive. Couldn't ask for better. Haven't got a clue why anyone who knows and likes Mexican food wouldn't give it a.high rating.

Family-owned and operated. Our only choice for Mexican in New Bern. Always great food and margaritas at Arturo's!

Food not as good as it use to be, slow service and was charged .50 for a glass of water? We ordered a $4.99 drink and iced tea with our meals, since when do they charge for water? 😡 Had to ask for chips and salsa and has a several minute wait just for that

I'm sorry to say that I've always loved this place in the past. However, the last two times I've visited , I've ordered a margarita and a water and both times been charged for water. Anyone at the table who orders water, even though we bought sodas and drinks were charged for TAP WATER!! Additionally, they have started charging a "to go" fee- not sure if that's for the chips and salsa we asked to go ( which we paid for) or for the box for our leftovers. Amazing service, great food, fantastic price! What's not to love? Restaurant was very clean, and the margarita was perfect. They do really make the most of the space. It's a lot more impressive than it looks from the road so definitely give it a chance.
I used to go to the Mexican restaurant over by Cookout, but this is hands down my new place. Better taste and price wise with servers who make sure they take care of their customers right.

The waitress never came back to our table after food was brought. my granddaughter was with me..it was her 7th birthday. from the time we sat down my granddaughter asked waitress to sing for her Birthday. … I wrote her name on piece of paper. other tables were served while we waited and waited. my granddaughter started asking different ones walking by to sing to her including the manager. he finally told her they were not going to sing. a great letdown for her. I will never step foot in Arturos again! By the way they even spelled her name wrong after I had wrote it on paper.

We got some food to go while on vacation in New Bern and it was pretty darn good. I ordered the chicken chimichangas as while it's definitely different to have red sauce inside it was good. The beans and rice were also a little different than normal, but still delicious. It was like having Mexican food in a bizarro world where things look a little different, but still really tasty. I'm not real sure where these bad reviews are coming from; perhaps it's more service related. Chips and salsa was on point, and I would eat here again no problem. If satisfied my craving just fine.

So I am truly not sure what to say about this meal ... I ordered a combo plate. The red sauce tasted like cheap spaghetti sauce ...weirdest flavor. I had what I can only describe as a gag reflex moment from the combination of the sauce and cold cheese enchilada. The chili relleno was simply a pepper with half melted cheese on it. I also ordered a flan and you could tell it was old. It had a thick skin at the bottom that was covered by the Hersey drizzle they used to mask the texture. To top it off they charged for tap water.. $.50? Who does that . Skip the cheese sauce because it was a thin,

PORK IN THE VEGETARIAN BEANS!!!!
My family and I visited this restaurant on January 26,2021. We ordered from the VEGETARIAN menu choices. We were ASSURED that there was no meat, ESPECIALLY PORK, in the beans. We were ASSURED by the wait staff that there was NO PORK used in the beans. I returned to the restaurant for lunch on February 4, 2021. We placed our order and out of habit I noted to the wait staff that I wanted the beans from the VEGETARIAN menu as we did not eat PORK. We were told that even the beans on the vegetarian menu was MADE WITH PORK!!! I spoke with the manager who confirmed this

This is an extremely average Mexican restaurant plenty of space. It's clean and comfortable, waiter was decent no gripes or complaints just mediocre.

Food is delicious and there is something for anyone. Best Mexican food in this entire area. Made sure to come here when visiting this area and it never disappoints. Staff is nice, food comes out very quick, and is always delicious. 10/10

I see someone else had a long, black hair in their food as well. I was casually eating my arroz con pollo tonight and almost threw it all back up because I pulled out a super long black hair. That is beyond disgusting. If someone is making food, they need to be wearing a hair net. If someone is serving food, hair needs to be pulled back. I cannot BELIEVE I have to say that, because it should be common sense/ common knowledge. I will never be back here again, because it seems to be a pattern of someone shedding black hair and that is not even remotely appetizing to me.

The service was good and the food was tasty. The guacamole had a nice flavor but a strange consistency. It was quite runny. I has the shrimp taco salad. It had a goof flavor but was the strangest salad ever. It was more like a stew with shredded lettuce on top. Yes, it was a hot in temperature salad.

Food is amazing I had the kitchen special Chickens, steak, and shrimp on a bed of rice covered in white cheese with onions mushrooms and greens peepers this is a dish that I normally get from another place call me Pueblo in Winston-Salem North Carolina , it was just as good here the chips was good the sauce it was very authentic the staff is very authentic Allso and there are some very attractive women here ,, (some) ! I would definitely come back here again or recommend someone to come here for dinner , The building Decour is very authentic as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food was authentic, delicious, and got it very quickly. Margaritas are tasty.

But there was no one to seat us when we came in so we awkwardly stood there for two minutes looking at the servers until someone came and sat us. Watched this happen the rest of our dinner.

We recently moved to New Bern and have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant. We found one but it's 18 miles away so when a friend recommended nearby Arturo's, we gave it a try!

Service was very friendly and Arturo came by and introduced himself. The food was excellent. My wife had the enchilada & taco combination that was very well prepared, very tasty and loaded with chicken.

I had the Camarones a la Diabla. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious and exactly as advertised; "not to hot, not too mild."

The only thing we'd suggest is

I'm from Phoenix so I'm pretty picky with tex-mex and mexican food. I had the beef fajitas with flout tortillas, add sour cream/guac, hold the green peppers.

The chips are served with just red sauce but it's decent. I prefer salsa with pico ingredients.

I didn't like the refried beans at all. Weird, sweet taste to them.

There's WAY more onion than beef on the plate but there's more than enough for the two tortillas. It had a good taste though. I liked them.

For the area, this is a good restaurant.
